I dunno. I do like some engravings. I love Mowl’s designs. I like stuff that’s on the rim, like more of an accent, like the 2Sick Flank (though I’m not a fan of that particular engraving/design). But agreed that cleaner looks so much nicer.
Also just can’t stand when a yoyo has its name on it. I tolerate on some brands like 2Sick but usually it’s a dealbreaker esp if it’s a generic-looking typeface. Still holding out hope for an unengraved Hero.

I have the blue/aqua/silver-speckle version of the Dominator and I can’t see the subtle engraving unless I look really closely. Moreover, in play the engraving disappears completely, making it even more irrelevant than when it is just sitting in its case.
I can be turned off by an ugly engraving pattern too, but when it comes to the Dominator that I own, it isn’t even remotely an issue.
