How long did you have it for?
I grabbed it in ocean city at a kite store and I haven’t been back to ocean city in some time… I would guess at least 5 years ago when I replaced the last one that died but it and my plastic butterfly always end up in my travel bag. At the beach and pool. Abused by the kids… I would say 5 bucks 5 years ago I probably got my money worth.
They don’t make the new ones like they made them in the 90s but stuff that old also doesn’t leave the shelf anymore so maybe I’m just showing bias…
I’ll eventually grab another and put this in the kids toy bucket where all the cheap sad or messed up yo-yos end up. In the mean time I’m traveling and stores don’t seem to just sell yo-yos on the shelves anymore so I’m down one. Should have brought more yo-yos.
Its nice to be able to play some fresh wood again. Picked up a @Eric_Newlin Wildwood Beech Gnomad during last week’s drop. Great presentation and packaging, and it plays smooth and crisp out of the box.
My first yoyo was a blue Duncan Imperial. Learned a ton of tricks with that one.
Yours looks like it has lived a good life! Hopefully you can fix it up and keep it going to throw another day!
May I ask where this dropped? DM me if needed.
Once Upon a Tree - Acorn
Undersized, perfectly weighted and crisp response…a true gem in my collection.
This was initially suppose to be delivered July of 2019, but better 4 years late than never. John Higby Everybody Yo-Yos finally arrived with a fresh Painted YYF Legend Wing
Today it’s some more of the ‚Once Upon a Tree‘ bliss. A Pocket before the PockeHt
Love this little (or I should rather say slim) guy. More on the lighter side and a bit challenging but very satisfying due to the smooth and soft response. Just a piece of wooden art.
Gnomad during work from home lunch today
Do the Pro-Yo’s play fixed axle or are they more like a wood transaxle?
I‘d say they definitely feel like fixed axle when played. Although it looks like a wooden transaxle system I believe the wooden part is wedged between the two plastic halves when screwed together…
its a fixie.
Thanks all. I knew they were set up like that but I wasn’t sure if the wood wedged in or not.
The quote is the first paragraph from my Intro post to the forum. Just posting to let everyone know that I found my circa 1972 Butterfly. It was in a small cloth sack with a few other ancient trinkets.
This is what the guts look like. I think technically it’s a wooden transaxle but from my understanding the axle doesn’t freely spin so it’s basically fixed.
Edit: I see I was late to respond
I was a little disappointed in how slow the ProYos were playing so I swapped them from the included string to YYE slick 6. They play awesome now!
They do constantly sound like they’re going to fly apart, but I think that’s just the pogs rattling.
