Any knife guys?

Those are sick

Those pliers are awesome. I thought about getting a set, but ended up opting for a Leatherman to have the knife and screwdriver/prybar and wire snips in one package. Most of the other stuff I don’t use though

Manix 2 is one of my all time favs. I have the s110v customized and an XL.

I haven’t posted an update on mine in a while so here’s the current arsenal. If anyone would like to see any of them in particular let me know.

I’ll list from left to right based on the position in the drawer. (top to bottom on the picture)

  • Orion Solaris jade scales / green pivot and backspacer. Ti clip lightning boltpattern done by me.

  • Spyderco Manix 2 S110v with custom glow in the dark scales, brass flytanim ball cage - I love this one so much. Really need a stubby clip though in bronze finish to complete it.

  • Spyderco Manix 2 XL - Flytanium green AL ball cage, ribbed thermochromic backspacer. Also want to get a stubby clip for it and some different scales. Not many XL scales out there I may make my own when I get around to it.

  • Spyderco Yojimbo 2 - no mods but I want a stubby clip and different scales.

  • Kizer Sheepdog & Sheepdog mini. These are the custom frag micarta series that Reylight did. They are serialized and totally awesome!

  • Flytanium Arcade - Black w/ Ultem inlay, purple thumbstud, brass colored ti hardware and a brass backspacer and it’s been updated to skiff bearings.

  • Flytanium BEEF - This started out stock with grey/blue scales and D2 blade. It has since been updated to the 14c28N blade, forest green scales, golden thumbstud, black screws, stock pivot, skiff bearings, custom rainbow paper micarta insert that I made for it. Love the BEEF platform. It’s so much fun to customize. I have enough parts to build two more if I had the liners haha!

  • Flytanium Concourse - This is such a cool knife I’ve been carrying it quite a bit lately. The Titanium handles are soft and smooth, almost warm feeling. The flipper is fantastic and the blade shape is chef kiss. The ergos are spot on too. I didn’t think I was going to like it at first when I got it but it’s definitely become a favorite.

  • We banter - S35vn version wil olive g10 scales and a brass colored studs. All around a great EDC for anyone. Everyone should have a banter!

  • Knafs Lander(s) - 1 is a black blade w/ custom glow in the dark scales (printed) the other one is a plain blade with the factory blem XX smiley engraving. It’s currently setup with white and grey scales. I have a few other scales for them and have printed a few too. Space kitty, black g10, blue g10, moon rock. I kind of wish I hadn’t bought the space kitty ones, never have used them.

  • Spyderco Cat - old school cool. G10 version. I’ve had this one forever, I got it when they switched from the carbon fiber scales to the G10. I carried it so much the G10 is smooth now. It needs some new spacers eventually and maybe a couple of screws haha!

  • Grandpa’s knives. The very bottom is a mix of knives that were my grandpas he carried a few of them for years. There’s an old scouts knife, and a few others that date from around 50s - 70s era.

  • Back to the top - There’s a Kershaw Skyline, Damascus blade G-10 scales. It’s in need of new shims.

  • To the top right - Kershaw 1920 - multi function knife with screwdriver and bits and a bottle opener. Kind of unique. It was one of my Dad’s

  • Wood handle knife - It was a random Amazon knife it’s assisted open, 440c I never carry it.

  • ColdSteel AD10 - it’s a monster. Would like to sell it or trade it someday I never carry it, not after it cut the living you-know-what out of my hand a couple years ago (if you want a pic of that let me know haha!) I got SO lucky, it almost cut through the tendon.

  • Not pictured but above the AD10 - Two Rough Ryder Sous Chef Damascus pocket chef prep knives. Never used them, would like to sell / trade those some day too. They are pretty neat but just don’t have a desire to carry them

The rest of the stuff in the drawer is mostly flashlight stuff like Olight arkfield, i3T, Flytanium 13T, KPL lube, minimal ridge like wallets, Knafs screw driver. Spare scales, boxes, and zip pouches from some of the knives.

What type of sharpening system do you folks prefer for your pocket knives?

I like the Spyderco triangle thingy. My kitchen knives see it more than my pocket knives because I’m not exactly a hard user over here but I like it.

Nice! I love that Para 3! I missed the boat on those magnacut ones. I’ve been wanting to add a para 2 and 3 to the collection I had a para 2 a couple of years ago and traded it (regretfully) for an ASK slip-joint, then immediately sold that after seeing how big a tool bag Greg Medford was becoming.

I’ve also been wanting to get a Yonder, Zac is a pretty cool dude I got to meet him a while back he was a pretty chill guy we kind of share the same philosophy of making use of what you got and using your “stuff”.

How do you like the wharnie baby banter? Thought about getting one but never pulled the trigger. Any major hotspots or downsides to it compared to the original baby banter?

I have the Spyderco Triangle Sharp-Maker and the Worksharp Precision adjust “elite”. It’s pretty nice. I also have various oil and water stones, they don’t get a ton of use though.

I sort of want to upgrade to the newer “Professional” Precision adjust because they addressed a lot of the minor issues with the original Precision adjust. Mostly just stability of the blade holder and stone holder upgrades. There’s better stones available for it. Plus the unit is all metal so it adds a little more rigidity and much needed weight. It’s not an absolute must though. The original Precision adjust is darn good for it’s price and I highly recommend it. It can also be enhanced with 3D printed upgrades that make it even better. The metal version is just a luxury upgrade for the hell of it really.

The Yonder is one of my favorites. A lot of people complain about the size, but I actually like that it’s a little smaller than a full size Elementum.
The wharnie Baby Banter was actually the first knife I ever bought, I bought the drop point version second.
I love it! No hotspots, super comfortable scales, the nitro-v steel is excellent. My only complaint was/is the quality of the micarta. I bought it straight from Civivi and when I got it I was disappointed that it looked and felt so dry and lacked the deep purple color that the website showed. I tried conditioning it with mineral oil, but it never lasts and keeps reverting back to looking dried out and worn.

Thank you, I was hoping to get some feedback about that. The Precision Elite looks like a reasonable deal and pretty straight forward to use and it seems to work great.

I’ve never been a “knife guy”…they’re cool, and I definitely make use of one when I need one but I never got into collecting all kinds of them. One knife cuts things as good as another for me. Writing that out i think I’m understanding my friends/family logic on my yoyos  anyway I always have one knife with me, for the last couple years it’s been this one I grabbed off Amazon. I don’t even remember what it’s called but it was $35 and it’s been solid for me. I liked the blade shape and the carbon handle is cool.

They are definitely worth it! My only suggestion would be to grab a couple extra grits if you want an absolute hair popping edge. The stock stones get you to shaving sharp and after a strop it’s very very sharp but you can still be taken a little bit further if you can go up a couple grits past the stock ceramic stone.

I’ve used sandpaper and lapping film on mine, just double side tape it onto the ceramic stone and give it a few passes before stropping. Makes a huge difference. You can also 3D print some extra holders specifically for the lapping film or different stones.
