(I apologize for the OT)
It’s the Futuro, but it doesn’t work. String stock in the return system. It was a weight distribution experiment I did.

Well; I kinda think that is only ‘half interesting’, since before 2012; there weren’t that many bi-metal yo-yos in production.

There were bi-material yo-yos like the Speeder. But bi-metal yoyos were slim Pickens.

I don’t know this to be a fact; Since I was obviously around yoyos since about 1998; I watched many things change; I will share a theory with you.

I don’t think bi-metal yoyos took off because people thought bi-metal yoyos were ‘better’.

I think people started making bi-metal yoyos because few Makers were ‘set up’ to do injection molding yoyo halves. And few people were even messing with delrin at the time.

Machine work was a more economical way to make ‘product’ than bouncing for thousands of bucks in plastic injection equipment.

Dale jumped right into yoyos because he already had his own Plastics Injection Company called Advanced Air. Making various fan blades and other parts in plastics. He is a Master Machinist, mold maker and does his own cad work; all in house.

Obviously after years of experimenting; mono metal and bi-metal and even a few tri-metal yo-yos have been fine tuned to provide amazing performance.

But if you put a Speeder or a Northstar or even a Dark Magic in the right hands; prepare to stand and clap.

The players provide the magic. And they don’t need titanium walls .4mm thin. They just need a: good yoyo, a fresh string and mad skills.

Go figure🤔

I quote every words.

In Formula 1: Pilot 60% - Car 40%
In Moto GP: Pilot 70% - Bike 30%
In WYYC: Player 90% - Yoyo 10%

BTW I’m still sad because in 2013 the yoyo used by János could be one of mine :’(

Dang that stinks! That is one beautiful looking yo-yo!!

Fair point!

They don’t call you the doc for nothing.

The exponential price brackets for creating a bimetal and trimetal adds a new step into the process and win almost all yo-yo companies subcontracting each step to vendors it gets exponentially more expensive with variables that I would put money on most wouldn’t be able to deciefer the difference.

It was the OG Anglam. Titanium rings. Pretty sure the body was 6061. Still $289 though, was still one of the most expensive yoyos at the time. The most expensive non-novelty yoyo if I remember correctly. The MG didn’t release until a little while after. This was the first or 2nd year of sOMETHING. Mickey decided to casually win worlds again to give his new yoyo and company a little more attention :man_shrugging:

He stopped really practicing for competitions after that year. Naturally he still stayed somewhat competitive at worlds for the next few years even without much practice or improving but yeah.

Hmm, I don’t know if that’s exactly true :thinking::thinking::thinking:

I agree with the numbers, but I am trying to imagine what the WYYC would be like with even 10% of the Formula 1 budget!!

I dunno, but 1% of a Formula1 is probably already in the hundred thousand range and I can’t even imagine a 2000usd yoyo

1% of any one team (or whatever they are) would be crazy money. It has always been a mystery to me why certain sports and activities are looked at as so valuable and others just a waste of time…
I’m looking at you, golfers… Why is Tiger Woods so rich and yo-yo champions so poor?

Because golf is a sport, and, though it pains me to admit it, yoyoing isn’t.

Is the sport part the drinking, or the golf cart driving?

I’m not sure. I’ve played a lot of golf with my dad and grandpas, but I’ve always walked. And I’m too young to drink.

5A list I made a while back, this should mostly be correct but there might be one or two errors (like if Takuma in 09 used a Leviathan 1 or 2… idk for sure).

Was kinda surprised to see Stellar IX get so much use this year, og IX and Stellar up until this year were a niche choice and most 5A players still seemed to prefer narrow. 2nd through 5th place this year were all using yoyos 42-44mm wide still though. Gonna be interesting to see if more players start winning with wide, because up until 2021-2023, the Atlas and ReMaster Galaxy were the only yoyos over 44mm wide used to win.
