Wood is Good

Been getting trapeze and trapeze brother stalls on my YYJ Classic for a while…

Really? I’ve been doing them on my BC Classic.

waiting on my tom kuhn optic star nojive they never emailed me saying that they shipped it. I ordered it last Saturday. Do they email when they ship

Don’t you think you should email them and ask this question?

Yeah I just did that after I posted. I was just wondering if other people got an email when their order shipped.

Update: My order shipped Thursday they said it should be here soon

I got an Irving and Higby Wooden loopers

I am liking wooden yoyos more and more lately

I’ve been meaning to post some pictures of the wood collection for a while. Sadly, this isn’t even all of it.

TMBR seems to be a favorite around here. Which of their models would you recommend for good sleep times for string tricks and good stalls as well?

I would say the Lovejoy or the Freemont.

For me, the Lovejoy is great for string tricks and good for stalls. The Freemont is great for stalls and good for string tricks.

I would say take a look at those two first, and see if either looks good to you. I don’t think you would be disappointed with either one.

I know this is the wood thread, but we’re all fixed conneseurs/a-fix-ionados ;); so I know you’ll all appreciate this.
Every week when I go grocery shopping I have to walk up the toy isle to get to the soy milk. I always see the $3 duncan imperials and butterflies haphazardly dangling amidst the array of other plastic rinky dinks and baubles, and I always arrogantly think to myself as I pass “ha! I am so above and beyond those yoyos”.
Well… after recently watching a bunch of Drew Tetz stuff, I was totally inspired; so, today as I was enroute for the milk, I stopped in the toy Isle and saw those $3 dollar yoyos in a different light. I picked up a couple, and I have been having so much fun today looping and stalling those babies (snapping those stock duncan strings too of course). I did have to put my own twist on the side caps though (cut some plexi to size and snapped in my groovy design;)

Oh- yooldman, loving the lumber collection; I spy a cherry pocket love in there ;D

haha! glad to hear that you’re feelin’ the butterfly love as well, and i especially dig those drippy butter caps.  i’ve been enjoying the o.u.t. pocket love a lot myself, lately—hope to show that lovely wooden twirler in a video soon, but in the meantime, more butterflies!!

My latest…African Padauk wood yo-yo and display, with rose engine embellishments:

Beautiful.

For somebody who is ready to appreciate some fixed axle play, what is a good wooden yo-yo.

I’ve been looking at TMBR since they’re pretty much the only wood company on YYE. Are all of their throws good to jump into fixed axle?

Coming soon! I shipped these out last week

Quick question for yall. Have a chance to get either a no-jive or an apollo. No jive is standard blue and white. The paint is peeling off, other than that it is in good condition with all the original stuffs included. The apollo is in great shape, multi colored and awesome looking. Both are great and would be happy to own either… but which one do you guys think would be a better deal?

If you are describing a No-jive 3-1, that would be the one to go with for sure. If it is a glued version, it probably doesn’t make a lot of difference. Anyways, you should get them both, then you don’t have to worry about making the wrong choice.

My first two Tom Kuhn Optic Star rhinestone mods, with a little re-finish on the wood…

So guys, I’m looking to get into fixed play. So basically I’ve narrowed my choices down to the Lovejoy and Freemont. I’m leaning towards the Freemont because it’s more organic and it’s cheaper, but what do you guys think? This is based on overall play for a beginner, by the way.

Do like stalls or sleep times?
