What Is THE Best Budget Non-V Bi-metal?

You really can’t go wrong with the Hummingbird. Though I am sure if I sent one to @Glenacius_K for free, he’d say it wasn’t very good

I don’t think that would be the case at all.

OK mr DV888 lover

Did someone say something about a free Hummingbird? :eyes:

Liking the DV888 doesn’t mean I don’t like other popular yoyos.

Ohhhh yes it does Glen.

@smileypants707 I already gave away a hummingbird in the other topic for the up-and-coming instagram and youtubers though, that was the only extra one I had.

Have you tried a raytracer?

I haven’t, but if @codinghorror sends me an orange one of those I’ll (eventually) make him two lacquered yoyos.

This used to be me until recently. While massive savings can indeed be had through the BST, you just don’t get the same unboxing/overall experience with the yoyo as you would being the original owner. When you buy new, you know that absolutely nothing has happened to the yoyo, and only your playtime will be put into that yoyo. It makes all my throws much more personal to me.

Also if you want any info from an unbiased source about the Raytracer, I’d be glad to answer any questions!

Raytracer vs. Hummingbird, go.

I dont see it mentioned often but I love my Basecamp Navigator. It is very reasonably priced and plays great. I’m not big on Bi metals though so take my recommendation with a grain of salt.

Plus 1 for the navigator.

Oh nice, that looks half decent

If we’re talking pure, competition-based performance, the Hummingbird wins hands down. It has super thin walls and a LOT of rim weight, and that combined with its low weight makes it a super long-spinning, yet agile yoyo. Main drawback of the Hummingbird: its width. Its relatively small diameter makes it a less forgiving throw when learning new tricks. The Raytracer, while great for competition, is the more fun throw. It’s wider, and it doesn’t focus all its weight on the rim, so it’s not just pure power. I also find the Raytracer to be better at regens, but the response of both yoyos is definitely above average. I’m someone who values performance over anything else, so I prefer the Hummingbird. But given your preferences (including price), I feel like the Raytracer would be the better buy for you.

Addition: I remember first playing with the Hummingbird; it was a game-changing experince for me. It fully takes advantage of a bi-metal design and the tolerances of 7068 aluminium. If you haven’t tried a yoyo that is as well designed as the Hummingbird, I would definitely recommend it just to see how good yoyos can be.

Was thinking the same thing

Hummingbird was designed to showcase the absolute manufacturing prowess of yoyofriends and what 7068 yoyo can achieve, it features one of the thinnest walls ever for an aluminum yoyo. The weight distribution is very extreme but due to the lightweight, it goes at an insane speed and agility.

Raytracer was designed for the modern trend of yoyoing, the team want a flagship yoyo that exceeds in absolute everything and be able to hit tricks with absolute confidence while also being fun.

I would say Hummingbird is definitely faster and more maneuverable, also the at only around 62 grams it has amazing stability and power that can handle everything you throw at with supersonic speed, the change of direction on that yoyo is absolutely ridiculous, its the definition of extreme rim and center weight distribution and you can feel it. The Raytracer however is also a very powerful and stable yoyo, I actually feel the power and stability matches or even exceeds the hummingbird, because its sits at around 65 grams. One thing that stands out is the extreme control of the yoyo, it does exactly what you want and it can go very fast if you want to, float with you if you want to. We also did some micro adjustment on the response, it is also decently wide so you can land everything with absolute confidence. I personally prefers it over hummingbird because I just feel more confident hitting all my tricks on it and its got that control, but I totally get why people prefer hummingbird over the Raytracer. Conclusion is you can not go wrong with either one of these

Y’all need to release some splashes or fades for the raytracer. Solids just don’t work for me
