Terrapin x wing bearing fairly brand new. And it runs just fine on all other strings. nothing wrong with the bearing or yoyo. I’m sure of it. The toxics I got from yye are 2 times the size of highlights. Its got to be the problem.
First off, What string did you buy exactly? Toxic Essentials? Toxic BG-1’s? Original Toxic? This matters and may help someone better answer your concern.
The gap on your Dietz is smaller than the gap of say a CODE1 or CODE2. This may be why you are experiencing problems, i would just use a thinner string on that yoyo. I use BG-1’s on my CODE1’s and CODE2s (the thickest variety of Toxic Strings currently) and i never have this issue.
Im not assuming your not intelligent, but i must covor all the bases. Is your bearing getting grimey and thus responsive? Try cleaning it and see if the problem persists. Also, your response may be an issue. Have you just recently siliconed the yoyo or applied new groove pads? if so they might just need a little breaking in.
You also may simply want to change your string, how long have you been playing that particular string? If its become frayed or roughed up, i would just slap on a new one.
With all that being said, there is a chance that your dietz simply doesnt like that particular format of Toxic string which is not a crazy occurrence, different yoyos like different string
BUT, i can guarantee you would find that the Markmont Dragon String would play fantastic in your Dietz, its nice and thin slick and fast.
The dragon is quite thin in reality. It’s very unique, I wouldn’t base the thickness on thread count.
In fact it was designed to keep out of the way of the response.
Yea… I already answed all that. But anyways… normal Dietz with one drop flow groove pads…and the toxic strings are not marked as anything else. On them or pn the package. It just says toxic strings. I bought them from yye. They are pretty thick.
That’s why all I was asking originally was if there was a toxic string that was thinner like type 6 highlights.
Really? I might have to take your word on that cuz my experience is that the bigger the type, the thicker the string. Wish I could try it first. How thick is it to highlights/dayglows? I wish yye and toxic’s websites would better clarify the difference between bg1, essentials, dragons, and regular. Makes it kind of hit and miss with what a person wants.
One more question on those dragon strings. How well do they fly through the air. The regular ones I got fly awesome and have little to no float. Are dragons more floaty?
I just noticed the link you posted is to the regular toxics, and the atomic wonder. The atomic wonders break in a bit stiffer and thinner than the other three on that page.
The confusion may be because the dragons and bg are listed on separate pages. I’ve personally found the bg to break in thicker than the others, the atomic wonder to be a bit thinner than the other three on that page, and the dragons to break in thinner than all of them.
My impression is also the atomic wonder seems to break in a bit stiffer than all the others.
I can’t answer the part of your question about highlights or day glows. The first thing I do when I get a new Yoyo is put on a different string, and I’ve never ordered highlights myself.
I agree sniffy, i tried to address his issue but he just kinda brushed me off. If he ordered the regular “Toxic Strings” (Atomic Wonder, Sonic Bellow, Radiation Orange, etc) Then there should be no reason for his yoyo acting responsive, unless he either (a) Doesn’t know how to adjust his string tension or (b) Needs to clean his bearing. Other than that i dunno, don’t really care anymore either. I digress, back to yoyoing.
Not wanting to make anyone mad… So I will give you my lifes story. I got this yoyo from bst. Its a Dietz with the flow groove silicon response.I have highlights/dayglows and ham strings. Ham strings burn my fingers most the time so I used the highlights. I am tired of pushing the string through the air so much, so started looking for a new string. Their just … Too floaty. I found toxics were popular so I decided to try them. At first I loved them. I did double green triangle without really trying. I first put them in my code 2. Match made in heaven. Then I put it in my Dietz. My Dietz has one drop flow groove response pads and are just past the break in stage. My bearing is a terrapin x wing ceramic. It’s new and i’ve never had a problem with it. Its not dirty or dusty or any thing else. When I had my Dietz on the highlights I had no problems. Smooth as butter and no vibe or anything. Put the ham string on it once and no problems either other then burning my finger. Put the toxic radiation orange on it that I got from yoyo expert and the Dietz got more responsive. Not completely responsive. For example, I did white budda and first you do a one and half, swing over non-th then jump between and back and back to one and half (which is where it starts to slow on the string like a small grind). Then back over the non-th and bounce between but this time swing around TH and land a brother. Then your suppost to swing out of that, release and carch in a one and a half but when I swing it binds up and crunches my knuckes. Doesnt do that on any other string. Other tricks like that bind and crunch knuckes where I’ve never had a problem on other strings. I know if I had bad form and it seamed to me that the string is just too thick. So all I asked on here was if there was a thinner toxic string and I got what I feel like is an attack. It was just a simple question. Im not stupid. Been yoing for years. I know string tension. My bearings just fine. And string thickness does matter. You can use poly type 6 in a Duncan drifter and you will somewhat need a bind, but if you put type 8 cotton in it you can tug it up so I dont see how im confused about sting thickness and responsiveness. I didn’t brush anyone off but just asked one simple question and you all wanted quantum physics. Which I answered in the first post I gave. their wasn’t anymore info that was needed to answer the question. so im upset now. Not wanting to fight. I wont return to this thread and will email toxic to ask them directly which is probably what I should have done in the first place. Sorry to post here.
Yeh man, were cool. No malicious intent. Ill admit i was in a “mood” when i logged on yesterday, and i apologize for my short response. No insult was intended
…and also, i agree 100% with sniffy, I think you will find the MarkMont Dragons to be very much to your liking. If i was more of a 1A player i would use those exclusively no doubt about it.
Evan: If I were to collect a substantial number of names, (say… 100?), of people who would buy pink toxic string, would you consider actually starting to make it?
I’m serious, I’d really love to have pink toxic string…
