Let me just add that I’m with “HogHeg” on the Pink thing. I’m not sure if he was serious, but I am.
I’m seriously color blind & for whatever reason I find the color Pink one of the easiest colors to see. Have no idea why! It’s just been an observation of mine. I buy nothing but Pink A1 strings from Jen @ Twisted Stringz and I love them. I can understand the offense it may have to someones masculinity, but for me it’s all about being able to see my string.
If I could buy Pink Toxic Strings, I surely would. Especially the Dragons. But I won’t hold my breath for that to happen as it sounds like very few people are on board with that idea.
I understand it’s all about commerce for Evan, as it should be. He makes great string & I want his company to survive. He has to make what sells. I have never found an adequate competitor for the Dragons though. They’re not for all types of throwing, but they are the best for whips…period.
For the record. I have never washed dragon strings with red clothing. At least not that I can remember. I was joking about the red, though it may work, and I seriously recommend running dragon strings through a wash/dry cycle, it springs them back seemingly to just when they were broken in.
Can someone tell me how the toxic essentials play compared to Atomic wonder?
The atomic wonder is great but it snaps me every time I bind
Soo I’d like to know how these play!
Woo! Will any of these pink strings be sent to YoYoz? (I reckon I can name that site here, since it’s a UK supplier and YYE won’t lose any business to them…)
Ok, well, I’ve been putting this off for a while because I wanted to get the full spectrum of experience before posting this time. So here is my review of the dragon strings. Day 1: dragon string is just as thick brand new as regular toxic string is when it is broken in. there I figured it was going to slim up some and be a thinner string. The feel is rough. Like climbing cord but when it slides on the skin it feels smoother. Almost silky like and that to me is just weird. Its so stiff that the loop around my finger won’t stay closed and I’m thankful I was over carpet with my Dietz because it just slipped off and across the living room. This was a huge problem all day long. Called toxic and spoke to them again and they gave me the idea of twisting the loop to grip better. That helped but was un-twisting and then falling off. The string didn’t hold tension very well either. Loops closed during suicide and I was constantly fixing the tension. This string loves to twist itself to death. Because of the twisting it tended to bind in certain tricks when it wasn’t supposed to. This string wasn’t turning out to be to great at first. I was determined to stick with it though because of the benefits I had heard so much about. Plus it did still fly through the air like it own counterweight, giving the ability to hit triple and quad GT’s just like any toxic string does. So thats a huge positive!
Day 5: after putting about 10 hours of heavy play on this string it has completely flipped on itself. when toxic told me this string had a serious break in time, they were not kidding! don’t get me wrong, it didn’t become like that overnight. It slowly broke in over that time but man what a difference it was when it finally broke completely in. It has thinned out a lot and thus made it more solid and not so squishy, but it feels even softer then before across the skin and is 20 times more limpy. As I said before, this string is weird! It still flys through the air as it did when I first got it but have gained the ability to control the speed as to how fast it flys. I can make a jade whip look as if it’s in slow motion, or whip it so hard you can’t see it until its already done. Very, very nice. And oh boy does it keep that loop. As with all the other tricks that require a huge nice looking loop. Tension is not a problem anymore at all. The string doesn’t twist itself as much anymore. More or less it has the same amount of twisting any other string does after tricks. Control is the same for whips and slacks as you can whip it as fast or as slow as you need it. The whole overall ability, agility, and performance takes a huge leap foward. Since it has gotten thinner I have not had any more wrong time binding issues. It only binds when I want to. Just like mark wanted, putting multiple strings into the gap is not causing any issues. To sum up, it has a soft feel, it whips perfectly, holds loops perfectly, can handle multiple strings in gap, and by far the best string I have ever had in my life.
About 20 hours on the string and its all still perfect. Here’s a real big kicker though. I pulled my Dietz apart and usually the string around the bearing is thinner and frayed on any other string, but not this string. I read that some people have washed their dragon string and it returned back to when it first broke in. I can now see why. It’s not falling apart like all the rest of the strings. At all! It’s not frayed (except very little hairs under a magnifying glass). I have no need to wash mine right now because I’m loving the way it is but I don’t see this string wearing out. Thats when I decided it was time to write my review.
I can’t say enough about how awesome this string is. It’s perfect once broken in. it does take time to break it in but once you do, I doubt you will ever want it off. Other strings can break in faster but they won’t last as long, whip and fly as fast, or give you the control this string can. So far (in my opinion) this is the perfect string.
Just ordered some Dragons as I’m getting low on my current toxics, (2 fresh ones left + a few old ones I use when I’m not doing slacks and whips). Hopefully I’ll get them in a couple of days. Yay!
