I had the winning raffle ticket but didn’t use the required method of communication and lost out. When I finally heard from him a month later I had thrown the ticket away. He gave me a bearing and some response pads. He is turning out some beautiful stuff.

All things considered I understand both sides. I wasn’t trying to be irrational, just frustrated. This wasn’t a G2 Jake sucks or don’t buy G2. I just had an issue and needed to vent it out. I think we can all learn something from this. Resolved.

IMO it is very hard to conclude anything based on the facts available. It heavily depends on profit margins and the price someone has to put on their time to sustain them.

Literally not one of his drops has not sold out (lmao I used literally again… someone slap me please). I have followed the brand exceedingly closely for 4 years straight. Every single drop. Every pre-order. Every single throw. Sells out within 48 hours. It’s absolutely incredible. And definitely not reflective of the rest of the yoyo industry. He truly has a supportive following.

The one exception is like a banshee SS that took like 60 hours to sell out… iirc it was the gold al7 with gold rims

Right. That they are very popular products that sell quickly is clear.

But I have no idea how much profit is made, or how much time spent accommodating unexpected circumstances would wipe it out (no matter where that fault lies, if it lies anywhere at all).

Check your dms brotha :call_me_hand:

Just read through much of this thread.

In the early text message G2 said that you could transfer your order to someone else. Has that been considered?

Typically, on special orders, refunds are not provided. An order like this may be considered a special order. ???

I hope things work out for both parties.

All yoyo companies are small business. Even yoyo factory even Duncan. G2 being boutique means it’s also a one person small operation.

Maybe it’s not as small as it was but in no way are any yoyo company that exists today even a medium sized business.

There is no big yoyo closest would be like a machine shop that does yoyo as a side business but the yoyo business is still small

It honestly doesn’t matter if every drop sells out and is over priced or whatever no one’s getting rich off yoyo and very few are living off yoyo.

Edit: Duncan is a tad special as it’s part of a larger org but it’s still a small business unit

Small in regards to the rest of the yoyo world*

OBVIOUSLY he doesn’t exceed $20mm in revenue to get him out of SMB categorization.

What does small in regards to yoyo world even mean. It’s still not a large enterprise able to take on large debts or credit. It’s still a single person operation. Seems tiny to me.

No offense to Jake or the other yoyo brands out there similar sized but expecting Amazon returns policy from a mom and pop shop is silly.

First of all I am sorry you have fallen on hard times. Second, am I the only one that assumes a deposit for a preordered good is non refundable? It seems like you have found a solution that makes you whole, which is the option he proposed and further clarification does benefit all, but wouldn’t it have just been easier to offer your preorder in a post? Matt has you covered, and if I had seen it I probably would have offered.

I guess I see deposits as a way of insuring your commitment to buy as well as shouldering some of the financial burden. A hundred ti yoyos are incredibly expensive for a small business to fund for 6 months prior to ship.

:man_facepalming: we’re getting way off the rails here haha

If you took a snapshot of ALL yoyo company revenues annualized, G2 would not be ‘small’ by comparison. It would be probably in the top 25-35%. Well behind Duncan, yoyo factory, OneDrop, etc… but well ahead of many others.

I can’t reply to everything in this thread.

Connor did email now. Issue had been handled.

Pre orders deposits are non refundable. (I left the small print off the email) that 100% on me.

All of my pre orders have been like this. I’ve sent refunds prior and sure I will in the future.

If you have an issue please email me. Especially after I say I’m not checking FB messages.

I appreciate those that stood up for me in the thread. I’m always going to do my best to make things right. I’m far from perfect.

Those that tried to drag me down. Hope you have a good weekend.
