The way I found yoyoexpert is, as soon as I got a unresponsive yoyo I was surfing the web for a place to learn tricks, found yoyoexpert I was not expecting these awesome forums tho but everyone has been super helpful.

Hi there! Welcome to the forum!

Welcome Ginny it’s nice to see more adults here on the forum…yeah!!

Great to have you here! There are some older folk on here too so it’s not too bad :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not sure exactly of your location but do you know about the DXL meets? General Yo? BAC? All great things in Cali.

Thanks for the notes and welcomes,

no I do not know about the meets and stuff yet but will look them all up.

Lots of my friends still fool around with their yoyo’s, seems it is something that you never grow out of like marbles…

Hi! My name is Buggot. I’m 15 and a noob when it comes to advanced yo-yoing, but I have been obsessed since I was 5-6 and my school had an event where you could buy yo-yos, and with yo-yos I find on promotional tables :P.
One day I saw a yo-yo ad on the internet and decided to get a good yo-yo. Me being dumb that I am and knowing NOTHING whatsoever about responsive/unresponsive, I bought a YYF Whip. LOL!
Obviously, when I tried to get it back “up”, it wouldn’t. Somehow I learned how to bind by myself, albeit rather weirdly. I’ve then learned how to bind the more efficient way (Thanks, ■■■■■■■■■■!).

I’m currently deciding whether to buy a good-ish quality responsive yo-yo and learn that way, or just skip that part and just learn unresponsive with the Whip that I have. What do you guys think? I’ll probably make a topic on looking for a new yo-yo soon aswell.

Well, that’s it! I hope I get to know you guys real soon!

-Buggot

Welcome.

If you already know how to bind you would probably be fine just learning unresponsive.

Thanks! Is there any starting point/website to recommend for learning unresponsive tricks (Besides Yotricks)? Also: Can you do responsive tricks with an unresponsive yo-yo? Thanks again!

yotricks is what i use its great for me
YYE has there list of unresponsive tricks.
And the responsive tricks on unresponsive yo? Some might like rock the cradle and walk the dog but others like
The creeper and such will be hard cuz the unresponsive isn’t responsive
I never try responsive on an unresponsive yo

Alright, thanks

hi everyone, sam here

well i used to yoyo in late 90s…
then i stopped…
able to do some tricks but not really good at it…

then lately i need something to relax myself
so i went back to yoyoing again
its quite enjoying when manage to do some tricks, and land perfectly

my current favourite trick is kwijibo and yuki slack
but cant really nail it everytime, yet…

my favourite yoyo… anything goes,
as long as it is well balanced.

in future, i wanted to start doing 2a and 5a …

nice 2 meet u all~

Hello everyone.

I’ve been checking these forums out for a while, but didn’t register until now. I’m pretty new to the hobby. I actually started a year ago and got through the beginner’s section of tricks on this website with my Dragonfly and then later the Velocity before getting a new dog that really took up all of my excess time. I never forgot the fun I had learning tricks, though, and so I’ve taken the hobby up again. I currently have a DM II in the mail which I’m very excited about.

Welcome back! I’ve been working on kwijibo myself, it’s a cool trick!

Nice! My DM2 is a really fun throw, I need to get it back in my rotation more often. Welcome to the forums! Glad you’re back into yoyos!

Hi,

I’m another older player at 53. I started at 5 years old with a Cheerio yoyo which I still have. I have yoyos spanning different eras reflecting my on & off relationship with yoing. I have ancient fixed axles to some of the latest metal offerings. I live in CLYW country, literally, their world headquarters is a few miles from my place.

I still remember like it was yesterday when I was 6 successfully executing the creeper (hence, my handle; it seems more sinister than it is but I went with it all the way with it anyhow) the first time causing an explosion of endorphins in my brain. I guess that what keeps drawing me back. I’m not a yoyo zen master but I am working my way up the yoyoexpert trick list. I’m currently at advanced part 1.

Also, I recently ventured into kemdama. Currently, I’m at beginner 4th kyu level. I don’t know if I’ll keep up with the kendama since it’s a sinister little device that I’m starting to realized takes more time than I figured to advance with.

Whenever there’s progress, no matter how small, it’s a good day.
Cheers

Welcome! It’s always good to inject a little more maturity into these forums.
