Hello! Probably you won’t see much out of me but here I am. My name is Chuck. At this point in my life I am a retired professor who’s been throwing yo since 1968. Not that I’m all that good; it’s more of a fidget device for me but I have fun. Having seen the “yoyo boom” of the late ‘60s, the “yoyo boom” of the late ‘70s, the “yoyo boom” of the late ‘80s…and so on…it looks like we’re about to have another yoyo boom.

My first yo was a wood one, including a dowel axle, made by my father because Duncans were a little past our price range then. It was painted blue metal-flake from a rattlecan that he used to touch up the paint on our 1965 Rambler American. I wish I still had it! Fast forward and I just checked my pocket and find a Yoyo Factory Velocity.

I decided it was time to explore the modern yo a bit more, so I’ll be over here in the corner trying to learn some new tricks. Cheers!

What, the Rambler American???
Welcome!

Hi all! This is my second post here. My name is Isaac, I’m in my early 40’s and the father of two (a 4 year old and a 3 month old). My 4 year old found my old Yomega Brain which prompted me to look into modern yoyos. After seeing some amazing string trick videos I figured I’d give it a try so I picked up a Shooting Star and an AOE, with the pretense of using them to play with my daughter (although I mostly got them for me). So far it’s been super fun and after a few days I’ve been able to hit my breakaway throw pretty consistently. I’m excited to be here and to learn!

I still love my UNPRLD Flash seriously one of my favorite yoyos of all time. Always wanted a FlashBack to kind of compare the two.

Hey there. Names James. I got in to throwing about 7ish years ago (maybe more who knows).

I took a long hiatus due to life being. . .well life. Decided I’d jump back in! Really excited to see what all has changed in these many years and what amazing throws exist today!

Hi,

my name is Robert and I have been following the forum as a reader for quite some time.

During my school days, like many others, I played with the Yomega Fireball, and the father of a good friend of mine had a small yo-yo collection. Those were my first encounters with the subject.

About four years ago, I started buying a few models again, and whenever I have time, I play and practice.

Best to everyone,

Robert

What’s up guys! My name is Joey! Born in 92’, I picked up my first unresponsive June 15th 2025. Now I never leave home with out a throw. If you’re on r/throwers you might have seen me posting tower tricks every Tuesday(for the most part). My favorite throw right now is my no-yo finger hypernova 6061! When I’m not throwing I’m usually making bass music, spinning fire poi, and rope dart! Excited to hang with all of you!

Hello everyone! My name’s Kevin and I’m in my late 40s. Got my first yoyo when I was in second grade after seeing the Smother’s Brothers special on tv. It looked like magic and I had to try it. Spent most of the next few years with a wooden or plastic yoyo in my hand then fell out of the hobby for a bit.
Rediscovered yoyos during the 90’s boom, tried my first ball bearing throw and got hooked all over again, culminating with my first metal yoyo - an SB2 which was mind blowing to me at the time.
Fell out of the hobby again until the late 2000’s when I bought my first unresponsive which was another revelation.
Few years ago I came back to the hobby yet again, picked up some modern unresponsives, was amazed at how much better they performed compared to my old dif-e-yo. Then I found my old No Jive stashed away and have gone back to responsive play after seeing how far that style has come. Basically it’s full circle back to where I started as a kid.
Happy to be here and hope to stick around for a while. I’m new to the forums but have been on the discord for a bit now and it’s honestly the best community that I’ve been a part of. You all are wonderful people <3

Hey y’all, my name’s Max. I am a highschool freshman and like to run XC and wrestle. My other hobbies include computer programming and solving Rubiks cubes.

Last year, my younger brother made an offhand comment about wanting a trick yoyo, so for christmas I got him the Yoyo Screen Time pack from ■■■■■■■■■■, gave him one and kept the other (the Fizz yoyo if you are wondering). He did not really get into it, but I found it amazing. In fact, since it came a little bit before christmas, i could not help but open mine and try it out in our garage.

About a month ago, I wanted to get an unresponsive yoyo and decided to go with the Ultracut (I bought the epic green one from here on YYE). I have been throwing that almost nonstop, and love it. I recently 3d printed myself a counterweight and have been experimenting in 5a.

Hello, Miss Demise here (Call me Angel <3), your fellow edgy Juuzou Suzuya tattood galaxy loving idiot.

Growing up, I don’t remember how, but we got into Yoyo’ing around 14ish years ago.I honestly didn’t get to have many freedoms but one of the only ones was yoyo’ing. With whatever our Dad got us, we would practice and feel kinda neat for doing things others couldn’t. It was so basic the stuff I could even preform, but it was so amazing to land a trapeze one in every couple or few times. Would piss teachers off with that incessant noise the og velocity would make, they’d get so angry because they just HWAR that EEEEEEEEEEEE it was so comedic being on the basketball team on the bench playing with a velocity, although that was special to me. The rest of the world can be buzzing and want me to do things but yotos have always been a source of freedom and expression for me. We used to have the Auldey Pegasus Magic Bow (black) and the og velocity in clear green in that old house. Since then we got a black N-9 Floating and a purple metal drifter… so basically a whole lot of basic stuff!! Lost that Auldey since, unfortunately, but the junk of crap I love with all my heart is sitting there still in all its clear green glory. My favourite throw is the Baryon with the galaxy splash, and anything crash related, I love bold and loud aesthetics. Seeing a galaxy splash i can lose myself to the void in, or the hype aesthetics I may come across.. well.. it sucks because I only buy what I specifically want and enjoy, so I may nkt be using the absolute peak of any specific throw, although, if it has a pretty variant colour I really love, I most likely will want to get it, just how the hyperactive brain works.

Thank you for seeming like such a nice community, makes coming back way easier when no one is ripping into eachother. I hope we can all be friends!

Hello

I am Andrew (18), and I have been yo-yoing for about 11 months. Hook variations are the only tricks I am good at, I can hit a -3.0 hook consistently, and a 3.5 hook on roughly 40 percent of attempts. I am beginning to learn 3a using the iYoYo Heisenberg.

I have a few folks at club that have been really grinding 3a and I keep trying but I just haven’t been able to make it click for me. Looks so cool though
