Introduce Yourself! 2026

Hi there, yoyo people!

I’m Wayne (Wayno) from Australia, and I’m in my mid-50s. I first picked up a yoyo back in the 1980s, when yoyo competitions were sponsored by a major U.S. drinks manufacturer. Winners took home Russell yoyos and merch. I was lucky enough to have an older brother who won a few yoyos and strings, and he passed one on to me. I spent a few months throwing and loving every minute of it.

Recently, my son received a yoyo as a Christmas gift. After having a few throws myself, I decided to buy a Duncan Hornet. Instantly, it brought back that childlike bliss—muscle memory kicked in, and a few tricks came back naturally. I can’t believe something so simple can bring so much joy.

Now I get to share this experience with both of my boys—one a teenager and the other 10 years old—and that makes it even more special.

I am investigating bearing technology and have the capability to 3d print and plan on building a home made design.

Lmao my grammar was so awful Idk if I want it back :joy::joy::joy:

Appreciate the reply, Happy to be back!

This is such a common occurrence. I have said to many people that if they really enjoyed it when they were younger, then it will instantly bring back that same joy, but as an adult it’s even more magical. Welcome

You’re not alone. When I was younger, I thought txtspeak was the way of the future and I had no compunctions about sharing the way of the future with everyone.

I still think it’s a valid evolution of language, but there’s a time and a place to use it and how far you go with respect to enshortening a word.

What has you interested still in the Anglam in 2026? The shape maybe?

Upon waking up this morning, I re-read my response for typos and ‘instantly’ realized it had Nothing to do with the thread title, lol.

I should have sent a pm instead of going off subject.

Hi, my name is Mark, late 30s. My 7-year-old is trying to learn how to throw. I am here to learn myself and, hopefully, find some tips and tricks from this community.

Yes, welcome. Feel free to jump in and ask anything. You’ll find many people willing to help you on your journey. It’s super cool that you’re on this adventure with your 7YO. If your kid ever loses interest… you may find it hard to stop as you may just start loving it!!

Howdy,

My name is Luke, I just recently started getting back into yoyoing. I started back in high school with the YYJ Blackmagic Acid frog edition. I started learning all my tricks from YoYo expert back in 2012 when I got started.

I remembered all the tricks I knew from back then and have started learning new ones again. I’ve starting buying up any yoyo’s that catch my eye and I’m loving it.

My current favorite trick is the rewind, I also love doing the plastic whip.

Aaron in KY. Grew up with a Fireball and Butterfly and loved throwing a forward pass. Rediscovered yo yoing in 2010 when me and the wife first started dating. Proposed to her with a green Butterfly just like the one I threw as a kid. Got the bug again last year. I like the wooden fixed axles a lot. The Swedish Elfversons and the BCs/Hummingbirds. I bought a few BCs off YoYoDave on Ebay, and he steered me to the Museum of Yo Yo History. Then that site directed me here… Been trying to get more consistent loops with both hands, and dream of shooting the moon one of these days. But I just ordered 2 Loop Classics from YoYo Factory, and they sent me 4! Love em. My wife claimed the extra set, and has finally gotten into it herself. My oldest daughter can do a few tricks as well. I can’t let them get better than me!

Welcome Aaron. At this point you’ll never leave yo-yoing again.
Starting February 1st here on the forum and possibly on other platforms the Yo-yo Boomers Club will be hosting Fixed axle February. It’s a great chance to learn a lot of new tricks and even possibly win prizes. It’s a great chance to get to know the community and it’s lots of fun. Keep an eye out and info will be coming soon.

Hi I’m Alex. Just started learning 1a in November. Always liked throwing as a kid (90s, yes during the boom) but I kept my Raider and would mess around with it every now and then. Something clicked and I wanted to get back into it and I love unresponsive. Just landed the Kwijibo today which took a few days! Really loving the community and it seems like Florida has a good scene.

Hello. My name is Chris and I live in East Grand Rapids, MI. I have enjoyed yoyos forever, but only started seriously throwing about 4-5 years ago. I had a buddy in high school that was big into yoyos (RIP, Andy) and I have wanted to try my hand ever since.

I have a lot of Yo Tricks throws since I believe their videos are the best tutorials anywhere. I’ve been branching out, so here we are.

Hey gang! My name is Avery, I’m 30 and picking back the habit after virtually giving it up for 18 years. I got into yoyoing with one of my best friends growing up in Pittsburgh. Was known for always having a yo-yo on me, but pretty tough to impress anybody when Ky Zizan was roaming the same neighborhood streets. Went to Worlds 06 and 07, and then my best friend moved away and the allure of throwing slowly dissipated…ANYWAYS back now, looking to learn new tricks, buy old stuff and reminisce! Tried TheYo first, as I used to spend HOURS on there daily but seems like everyone is here now.

Still got my old case, complete with deteriorating 19yo foam and some slightly loved and very well loved relics. Thought it might bring back some memories of days past for others as it does for me! (before you come at me, I was 12 so yes my mother did require me to cover the chick on the Pyro sticker so her boobs weren’t visible)
