How many yo-yos for travel?

Here I’m thinking I want to bring two sets of 2A throws that more or less all play nearly identical. I totally get the don’t bring similar throws thing for 1A though.

I just got back from a 10 day vacation where I didn’t bring any yo-yos. Or miss them. The trip was designed to be about something else, and yo-yos would have been a distraction (not nec. unwelcome, but nevertheless).

Now that I am back, all the tricks that compose the rut I was in before are challenging again! So there’s that.

I don’t like the sound of these limitations, but every relationship that works, works in its own terms to some degree.

If you are a 2A player, it seems like you need either 3, with one being a potential stand-in for the other two, or two pairs.

Plus two for 1A.

A month is a long time with no redundancy. That seems like a logical position for an appeal to the 4 limit.

I decided not to bring any yoyos going on my first trip to Vegas with my wife this past weekend. I figured we would have so much going on I wouldn’t even be thinking about yoyos. I wanted to give her my full attention.

We had a great time and then our flight home got canceled. So, now we’re stuck here, scrambling, trying to find a way back home to our kids and I have no yoyo to help me de-stress.

My advice? Bring at least one.

For travel, I’ll see if there’s one I feel like I should be throwing more and just grab that.

For quick trips to the park to (literally) walk the dog, something that’s good for loops.

You’re Lucky….

In the United States, you can get arrested for throwing yo-yos while Drunk>

It’s called a 502-1A

A month of travel??? Oh that’s a hard one. I did a week last week and I took two. One to carry and one for the room so I could change it up at the end of the day. I’d probably end up with the same 2 though if I’m being honest. I might throw in a third like my Kamuraiju or something, but most likely 2 for a month.

Just tell your wife you can’t accommodate her request, but that you’ll make a good faith effort to keep it as close to 4 yoyos as you can.

With the wife; I can either be Right or Happy. Cant be both…

My 4 would be;

RBC,
Hybrid Fulvia (Half Speced),
SW Harbinger,
Recess Snack, *fixed- Thanks TryCatchThrow

Think that would last me that amount of time.

Have Fun

Snack is Recess.

Edit: also an awesome choice for travel. It’s my work bag unresponsive.

My advice is bring one, a few strings, and a bearing. Everytime you pickup that one post vacation it will bring back the memories of your time. It creates sentimentality that is hard to get when you have a lot of yoyos.

How much can you bring in the way of spare parts? Strings, pads, bearings, axles. . . .yo-yo halves. . .

Ohh I like that thought. I can just bring all the parts of my loop 2020s and not count as a yoyo. Brilliant

They’re small. Hide them in your luggage and carry on.
My 4 choices right now are my
Ti fh1
Populist
Doc Pop Thing
Poly Mijo
But a small YYE case isn’t unreasonable for travel in my opinion :beers:

That’s the solution… I need to make yo-yos so I have an excuse to bring so many.

If I go camping in the RV for the weekend I bring at least 12. You got to have a couple Kitty yoyos in case you run into somebody and want to teach them. One or two five a, the two Loopers like you mentioned that could go on and on. You want me to call your wife?

Grab your case that holds 6 maybe 8 yo-yos, before the trip pick out 4 critical throws and buy some skimpy lingerie and stick them in the remaining pockets. Express that four yo-yos are not enough to provide proper entertainment but you have some other ideas to fill the time.
