I’ve been taking my normal EDCs. A well-loved TiHawk, and a b-grade RBC. I’ll be taking them to Nats as well, with maybe my Wanker. Then playing with all the new yoyos I buy there.
You’ve made many amazing posts on these forums but this has to be the best advice I’ve seen by far. Much love <3
Update. My final count of yo-yos brought is 14 I think I took the yoyo doc mind set. Didn’t realize I had a pair of loopers already in my pocket. Plus a yo-yo in my toiletries bag for emergencies I packed in there a few years back and “forgot” I also had a few in my work bag that I neglected to take out and I talked my wife off the ledge from 4 to 6 plus some parts in my proper yoyo bag. Will I play with all of them on this trip… probably not I’ll probably pocket the snack and my trusty old ten trick and forget the rest are here but I now have options.
This post is making me quite paranoid as I see everyone bring so much while travel.
I think in August when I will have to go back home, I will increase my number of yoyos from 1 to 2.
3 for me.
The top of my work (laptop) backpack has a hard sided case in it that was intended for sunglasses. As it turns out, 3 yoyos for nicely in there. For this trip i brought the Dressel Designs mystery throw, which i wrapped in a cloth, the C3 Speedaholic XX and a Duncan Freehand 1. I typically wrap one of the metals (in this case the only one) in a cloth to prevent uneanted noise/damage that occurs while moving around. This works great for me as i tend to just throw 1A and 5A so u don’t typically pack loopers and such. There’s room for a few strings and a bearing or 2 if i feel so inclined.
It looks to be the “Ogio Gambit”, if anyone is interested
Enjoy the throw my friends

All packed up for Nats! More than my usual 6 for sure
Got my FD50 coated in stickers (some of which I’ve been saving for a decade+, peep some of those throwbacks)
We’re at a total of 67 throws which is definitely WAYYY overkill, but at least I won’t be in the mood for something I don’t have, and people can try whatever! Come and find me if you wanna try some stuff. Also have some of the stuff from my BST in here if you would like to trade. Also left 5 free spots for throws I get while I’m there. The 12 case is what I throw the most/will be throwing the most.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Let’s slow down Alberto, no rash decisions
you’ve only got room for 5 new yos in there, how will you survive the booths?!
Have to be honest @SR1 post was about to increase my number to 3 yoyo (I just decided to increase the number of strings: 15 strings instead my usual 10) but the nationals are a good excuse to bring many with you, so nice that he wants people to try them!
I tell myself I’ll pack two. I end up averaging 7.
I really feel like two or three is the sweet spot if you’re reasonable though. One organic, one competition/super nice throw, and one beater if the organic is one you don’t want to get dinged up.
Unfortunate events have occurred. A terrible evening. Only day two and regret has set in. How could this have happened. I went to walk the dog tonight hat with clip on light. Check. Light up dog tag. Check. Pocket flashlight that’s always on my keychain. Sure. Light that’s attached on the leash. Yep it’s there. But wait. How could this be… my light up yoyo… my glow in the dark. Wait. No… neither to be found my go to light up is on my desk back home. My glow in the dark. Well I didn’t have one yet but the one I bought didn’t arrive in time and is at the post office with all my mail.
How does one go on a late night stroll in the dark without a light up yoyo. Terrible. I pulled out my regular ole looper my ten trick for company but then I had to use a flash light to see it.
Should have brought my travel case loaded with 36 throws. Limits be damned. I some how survived will hit up the local mom and pop toy store in the morning and see if they have anything to fix this plight.
So last time I asked this it was more around vacation and work combined. Well now I got to go travel for work again and hop on a plane this time just a week.
Thinking just 3-4 yoyo this time keep it simple a wood, a nice bimetal, beater mono or plastic and a modern responsive maybe a set of loopers if I have room.
Is my Math off? First statement 3-4. But you list 6? 7 if you take a Mono and Plastic?
Yoyo math start with 2 end yo with 10
a solid 6 case couldn’t hurt
Wood, Beater, Pocket and Loops
Loops count as 1 right? Even if 2 are required?
Loopers don’t count, they fit easily in the pockets
