Flying my Butter today too!
I wish I was at the beach!
Stop n go to GT looks so sick.
Ed, do you own any metal yoyos? or any unresponsives?
What is your favorite from each shelf?
Ha that would be tough…
Top shelf my very first No Jive. Middle lately probably the Qubit lately but the new Daytona, Flying V and all the 650b are up there. Bottom shelf is full of nostalgic pieces it would be impossible to choose between.
Im 8 days into fixed axle February and am still successfully doing the “only fixed” challenge (though im still allowing a small indulgence with bearing responsives, but sparingly and only for fixie trick influence). Ive found that nothing beats a quality worn in fixie on an also properly worn in cotton string (maybe 30-45 minutes before you need to change it out). Tricks feel like flowing between the folds of a silk blanket. You do not get this same experience with a modern unresponsive.
I’ve only thrown fixed as well! It’s alot harder than I thought I’d be haha
For the next month, if it isn’t in this case, im not playing with it.
Been putting a lot of mileage on the left four fixies. Im just starting to appreciate the OUT Just for Fun, but I feel like the combo of lightness and a wide V makes for poor modern responsive play. The Fallen 44 Redrum is a bad yoyo (wide gap makes the response terrible).
I saw the gap on some of those Fallen 44s and realised it just wasn’t going to work.
I have one, and another in the mailbox right now. The one I’ve had for a while is actually pretty nice. Obviously mileage (kilometreage?) varies, but the response has always been adequate unless I had an unusually thin string on it.
I could try buying some thicker cotton, but as it is with regular cotton, even waxed I can’t get it to return consistently. Do all Fallen 44 yoyos have the same gap?
I heard someone else say that their Fallen 44 throws have some of the best response, So I guess they can’t all be the same.
I think the Sixth Sense would be fine if it weren’t for the horrendously large gap. Mine responds okay most of the time but the kickback is what killed it for me.
You would also never be able to moon on such a massive gap.
I have a Crow shape and a Sixth Sense shape. Both can only just fit two quarters in the gap. No calipers, sorry.
