@zslane I believe it is maple

Hmm. Seems too light to be maple. And it soaks up stain more like pine.

The grain looks like maple to me, it’s quite hard and bland like maple too. It could be light because it’s so dry. It would be incredibly light if it was pine and you could press you fingernail into it quite easy.

The Legend Wing is sugar (rock) maple. They make them from baseball bat blanks. Maple is a really light wood (for yoyo making).

There are also ash baseball bat blanks, so it isn’t out of realms of possibility that they might make the Legend Wing out of that too at some point.

If you’re referring to @French’s yoyo, that one is made from photinia. I’d be surprised if anyone else in the world has a yoyo made from that. The wood I made it from is from a tree in the backyard of my childhood home. It’s one of the most premium woods I’ve ever worked with. It’s very hard and dense, and has an extremely fine texture. It cuts so beautifully and cleanly that the shavings you get while turning it are long fine curls. A beautiful wood. It’s very comparable to olive wood, but with a finer texrure.

That’s a bunch of dingo dung. If you’re sufficiently bad at throwing fixed, or trying like heck to be @EOS44 , you will get bad knots in your Ballsy on a regular basis.

Then I stand corrected.

I do get some knots when coming up with the more unorthodox fixie tricks lol. The day I broke my Harbinger, I was doing especially funny stuff and got knots on it to the point of having to cut the string in the gap to get them out.

But yeah. You won’t get knots while you play fixie, unless you’re trying stuff with triangle stalls or ultra weird flips. Or if you’re doing string tricks that include a knot-prone mounts.

Thanks for the info, I bet it feels as lovely in the hand as it looks to the eye!
