I’ve thought the same thing. Curious how it plays. I feel like the inner step should be at an angle instead of squared off. I’d love to have an inverted Russel style yoyo.
Dang!!
I feel like if it does catch on the inner wall, it would slip down to the axle. Hoping as it breaks in, that step rounds off some. There may be a reason I don’t see people making yo yos shaped this way, but I had to see on my own! Thinking it may regen and shoot the moon well. I’ll give it a couple days and let you know how it does.
It’ll be fun! Probably.
Have no trouble mounting my regular Otter, and I would think reversed would stay straighter for me. But with my skill level, I’m really just at solid basics… Favorite combo now is: Trapeze stall, reverse breakaway, regen, loop. Or just see how many times I can regen into a trapeze stall. Record is 5 so far…

It works! 9 times out of 10 it lands in the gap. When I miss the mark and it does hit the inner step, it slides down to the axle. I barely feel it, and it doesn’t seem to slow down the spin. Haven’t spent much time outside with it yet to get a feel for shoot the moon. Not sure the internal response holes were necessary. But I don’t mind having the extra snap. It stays straight when hopping back and forth, or whipping it under your hand to regen. Really liking it so far! The Reverse Otter, or Retto is a totally viable shape for a yo yo.
Legit thought you somehow harnassed the sun into a yoyo, amazing photo
That’s a real Fireball!!
This makes a killer Bandalore throw. I’ve not found any joy in playing no sleep until this. Its pacing is just right and it holds pretty darned steady too. If you have one give it a try. That is all. ![]()
if you’re saying what i think you’re saying - Yee Haw! Sure it limits what u can do, but It’s pretty Fun huh?.
I believe we are on the same page. Playing Bandalore style means the yo-yo does not sleep. You are right though. I dont think every yo-yo is fun this way but when you find the right one it is indeed pretty fun.
If you haven’t tried 5A Bandalore, I highly recommend it. Throw a breakaway and as it returns release the counterweight and it will twirl around and it is fun to try and catch it. The lighter the counterweight, the more twirls, 2 grams is my favorite for this. Many other fun things in that style, but that is my favorite
