Fixed Axle Friday Throws

So good. Took a few hits, sat in a car in Phoenix for a few hours. Still rips.

Thought about playing more modular caps and even a Tom Kuhn but I decided on this @vegabomb Padauk Cavemen Go; a rather classic piece with a nice balance of spin and response.

I need to get one of his yo-yos. Padauk is a beautiful wood that isn’t used enough.

Well the Manta Ray has been a favorite this summer, so I picked one of the “Glow In The Dark” versions This one is a V1 with Starburst, a weight around 54grams and a fresh looking axle. The edges around the pog are a little sharper than my Clear from earlier this summer, but again at the price point its not that big of a deal being that these are even cheaper than Legend Wings. I really like how these just play on the string.

I’ve been pretty stressed lately. I am figuratively the fire fighter in my lab and have been putting out A LOT of fires lately. I went home early today. Hot and humid out but I’m happy. Happy Friday all.

Edit:
Throws: TMBR Fremont 2020 in maple (a favourite), SW Boon in wenge and SW KNack in red oak with 6-shooter response.
Beer: Amsterdam Brewery (Toronto, ON) 3-Speed.
Smiling Face: Priceless.

Happy Friday! Here are all my toys at my desk today.

FTY x Fallen44 Fixie, YYF Confusion with Unknown Square, and a deck of Caesar’s Palace casino played cards.

The FTY Fixie is really unique. The concentric circle response makes every throw go down the string slowly, regardless of how hard you throw. It’s really chill, and it stalls really well.

I have the Confusion out because I’d like to record Double Explosion. We’ll see how that goes.

For the cards, I’m working on smoothing out the Sybil Cut and making a better display of 5 Faces of Sybil.

Last night I gave my Manta Ray glow away to a potential new Yo-Yoer after a performance and she was very ecstatic to learn, so today I grabbed this 2016 Wooden Butterfly reproduction and it has some Zipline [kot-n] that has more than a few sessions on it.

With boutique woods becoming more scarce, maybe we are on a renaissance of plastics with 3D printing becoming more accessible and affordable. Just got one of @wayne927 Layer Infinity KASMs with the Sapphire blue Crystal Caps and a YYJ Small B Size Bearing. Now since its #FixedAxleFriday I installed the included “Bearing Lock” red washers, which is an interesting concept of just compression fitting the bearing with o-rings in the seat to prevent it spinning freely. The weight is right in the pocket at 51 grams and is a classic boxy Butterfly shape. With flowable silicone response it has a soft snappiness compared to starburst. So far its proven to be rather durable and has come away unscathed from a tile floor hit that I have had crack some woods in the past. Looking forward to what Layer Infinity does in the future along with other 3D printer yoyo enthusiast.
