Happy Friday, these arrived yesterday just in time for FixedFri and my week off next week! A pair of red oak SW KNack (~48g) and Bloodcell (~52g) with the new 6-shooter response. I’ve always wanted a KNack, I love the aesthetic and design, but I’m actually really enjoying the bloodcell and it might be my fav of the two, the extra 4 grams (due to it being a denser piece of oak) and the rounded profile are feeling really nice to me! Super comfortable in the hand and on the catch. It also happens to spin smoother than the KNack. Though I will say that the KNack’s profile is easier to catch on varials and such.
Those look very nice @Glenacius_K. Nothing better than fresh boutique crispy fixies.
woot - hope you all have the best weekend.
#fixedfriday meditations:
- you’re enough as you are.
- It’s nice to strip stuff away sometimes.
- authentic > extra (and if you’re authentically extra, embrace that ■■■■ and live it!)
- allow the world to work - if it conspires to slow you down, let yourself stall & regenerate.
- try whatever makes you feel awkward, inept, and exposed. we only grow through risk.
- you stand on history. the universe has delivered itself to you - AS you. even if it’s just you throwing a #yoyo on a bridge, be there for it. all the way.
- even when everything is spinning, at the center it’s still.
Is that a new company?
That’s me and my craft store stamps
Ignore the gouge in the maple throw . Chase was still interested in one of my first attempts, but I’ve definitely improved the quality even since then.
I totally agree, but even the gouged one plays amazingly, Eric makes some amazing throws!
Started the day on 2a Tuesday but ended up here.
Spintastics Manta Ray.
I took a 15 minute call this afternoon and threw a continuous Makin’ da Zines basically the entire time. I was delighted by how consistently the Manta Ray played.
Keeping it modular throughout this week with Freshly Dirty Mod-44s. This one has the Slim Jimmies Kit with 3D Printed rims, and set up fixed with a RSO/TK Silver Bullet 2.4mm Bearing Blank laced with some bulk strings that are too short for 1A, weighting in at 52 grams. This set up either with a Blank or a 1/2 spec bearing is surprisingly awesome for Modern Responsive 0A. Some lathed wooden rims would be next level of epic.
If someone were to turn some rims, you wouldn’t happen to have a wood preference would you?
Probably Oak would be the strongest I imagine, Maples would also have a sweet feel in the hand. I know when FD was introducing these they reached out to Colin of TMBR, but I don’t think he had the time. I know I wouldn’t be the only one interested. The Cad files are free and other Delrin rims designs are available on YYE.
@RC_yo-yo Bitterfly and Pokemon Version Verde Hoja. I wonder if this will teach me Spanish. Gods know I’ve played through it in English enough times.
I need to figure out how to open and work with CAD files, but this sounds like a fun challenge.
Cool picture
How is it holding up?
