I think PMing the people you know quite well on the forums is one thing, but spamming people you don’t really know isn’t. It’s just exercising courtesy and tact.
Also, don’t PM NathanC. That’s just common sense.

Well, if you know those people well enough to know that they wouldn’t mind a P.M., that’s one thing. For example, if I’m linked with someone on Facebook, Instagram, or had enough discussion with them on the forum to know they would not mind…it’s fine. One normal PM, personalized, asking for a vote in a contest is not a bad thing.
The problem comes in, if someone is PMed, and you don’t know them well enough to know if it is okay with them. Another problem is sending what appears to be a non-personalized mass PM saying “hey guys, vote, vote vote!” like it’s an emergency. Another problem is when someone does not ask once and leave it at that, and badgers the person about whether or not they voted yet.
So, when it comes to those 15 people, you have to choose, and choose wisely. Because if someone complains about being spammed after I already stated that I don’t want it to happen, it becomes a problem in the contest. So the answer is to choose wisely in regard to who you send a message to, and also choose wisely in the manner you send that message.
If anyone sends a message soliciting a vote, and does not choose wisely, just to keep up with the behavior of someone else, they might find themselves similarly situated. But to answer directly sending a message to someone just because they are on the forums “a lot,” is not a reason to think you know them well enough to ask for their vote. That is reserved for “friends,” who you regularly PM anyway, or people you’ve met in person and remained in contact with from a meet or contest, connected on social media, and the like.

The Supra is undersized, but has some weight to it. The Yelets is smooth as can be.

Midnight is the cutoff to put in a vote for the winner.

Just going to throw it out there, I have enough traffic going through my mailbox, I didn’t really appreciate 4 seperate unsolicited private message requests to vote for this. I understand you guys really want to win, but if people want to vote, they will.
Plus one to that brother. My inbox got some spam for this contest. I made it a point to not vote for anybody that would message me to try to get an edge to win a yoyo contest.
Only 1 guy messages me about it, but he has helped me alot lately so i voted for him.
Well…there you have it, NavyThrow and TTTYo do not want requests for votes. I’m curious how many messages they got, and from whom. If they care to share the names, and forward me the messages, I’d like to see.
I have gotten many requests in the past for votes for photo and video contests. Some people know me from the board, others are linked on Facebook or Instagram. If they were friends of mine, I didn’t mind it. I voted, or not…or responded, or not. I tend to get a few PMs a day from people on the board anyway.
So, if you and NavyThrow care to share, PM me. This only had 10 contestants, and lasted for only 4 days, so I’m curious if 10 people thought you were friends, or if you got more than one message from the same person.

I think it’s really a shame that things like the Secret Santa and now this contest that are supposed to be done in the spirit of fun keep turning into people trying to get something at the expense of others.
