Iâm going to be frank here, but I know that itâs not always easy to see or make the right decisions as a young person, so donât take it too hard. Iâm sure youâre still a good person.
You played the âI care about peopleâs feelingsâ card when you thought you or your brother were being insulted, without really extending that caring feeling to competitors and how they might feel being judged inconsistently. And now youâre thinking about cancelling, after judges committed, after prizes have been offered, after people spent energy giving you constructive (yes, constructive) advice, and more importantly-- after competitors have taken time out of their schedules to film videos? You shouldnât have even asked the question.
Itâs not too late to decide to âdrop itâ in terms of injured feelings and move on. I guarantee you there are all kinds of heads being butted behind the scenes of most of the worldâs (and yoyoâs) events. But the organizers have a skill even more important than management⌠the ability to maintain momentum and stage the show. I think you should complete the contest⌠quit changing things around⌠just commit to your judges and system, commit to the format, stick to deadlines, and if 2 people in each division end up entering and being judged by fewer than you intended, you still finish it out and award the prizes.
Be less concerned about your ego. You have to imagine it has taken a life of its own (which it has) and be happy that you get to be a part of steering it. Itâs not about you, regardless of whether it was your idea.
Now itâs a learning experience for us all. No one is perfect.
I donât think that the âAndre wouldnât want you to have inexperienced judgesâ argument is valid because Iâll bet he knew inexperienced judges would be judging before he offered prizes.
Yes, but I am using it. That is all that matters.
I told him some of the people judging and competing. He knows it is not professionally judged and he gives his approval.
The last thing I am saying in this matter is:
You are all nice people. But look what money has done to you. If the prizes were never offered, or I had never accepted, this would not have happened. You are all greedy for the prize money. Thatâs what this is. Call it want you want, fair, just, but it is greed.
Now, if this does not âdropâ, and I mean RIGHT NOW I am telling Andre to forget the prizes. Any further argument, and the contest will be postponed until this matter is resolved.
I am very young compared to some of you, this is how I see fit, so fit it is. I am not changing anything at all that I have originally stated, I am not going to quit or cancel, and I WILL NOT BACK DOWN FROM A FIGHT, if it comes down to it.
Two more things:
- This is my contest, I choose the judges, the prizes, the format, and everything else and everybody competing, judging, etc. must respect and obey these rules.
- How would you all feel if you hosted a contest and worked your *** just to have people start an argument about which way is correct? The only correct way, is the way mentioned by the head person, me. So all of you just KNOCK IT OFF!

Tomorrow is the deadline for videos. That gives 12 people 24 hours to get them in. Come on people.
Also, if needed, I may delay this contest due to the argument we had and I need to get back on track. I had not done anything needed because of it, for some reason, and I need to catch up. Itâs not much stuff, but it needs to happen before the deadline.
