YoYoRecreation Appreciation Thread

I’m slightly concerned that I won’t care for such a small width on a fairly large diameter yoyo but as soon as they release an ano version in a color I like I’m on it. Any of the 3 colored versions they’ve done for Draupnir pretty much guarantees a Laser purchase from me…fingers crossed for blasted though.

As much as I hate to say or think it, the Dazzler specs and pictures make it look like it would be sooooo comfortable to hold and throw. New Years resolution is to be (at least slightly) less stupid with my spending though which in large part means <$500/month purchasing yoyos. I wouldn’t mind stretching it slightly to purchase the Dazzler since I know I’ll be BSTing well over $500 worth of yoyos this month anyway, but I am 100% purchasing a Puffin 2 as long as there’s at least 1 decent colorway, I’m hoping for the ano Laser and I have a few other YYRs on my BST radar so the Dazzler can wait…hopefully until it’s sold out so I don’t have to think about it any more.

The dazzler is as comfortable as it looks…

I think the high priced ones are legit though, those models were not counterfeited to my knowledge

Right on and thanks. Never seen a fake, all of my YYRs are as real as they get.
If I do end up buy a fake I was planing on running it over etc until it dies just because I can.
…that or give it to one of my bros for free.

anybody get an idea of what the proto YYR Samm Scott is throwing?

I saw this a while back, and after looking at the video close up I think that it is a Laser Proto. I am very likely to be wrong though, so I’d wait for other peoples opinions; people that actually have a laser and can compare them side by side.

Well, since I took the plunge and bought the Dazzler, I thought I would at least update my montage and post it.

YoYoRecreation has really re-invented themselves this past year, and I’m really glad I managed to buy some of their legacy YoYo’s since I feel they may not be manufacturing them again anytime soon. But their new stuff almost leaves some of the legacy throws feeling somewhat irrelevant in a small way.

It will be interesting to see if the Western and European companies decide to try their hands at Bi-Metal designs and give YoYoRecreation a bit of competition.
I guess it’s just a wait and see.

Thank God, Dazzler is out of stock. Crisis averted.

I’ll just pretend that I don’t know about the ones in stock on another site.

So what’s your favorite?
Also is the draupnir all metal?

So excite. Also at $676 or whatever on that other site it should be easy to resist, that’s just silly money, as is what YYR sold them for, but still, wow.

7075 with stainless steel rims. Although there was some debate about the rim metal, but i’d bet large amounts of money that it’s stainless steel and any confusion was just translation errors.

That would be pretty awesome. I feel that one drop is the most likely out of western manufacturers to make a bi metal design. They are usually on the cusp of innovation. But I can’t imagine why it’s taken so long for a bi metal from North America (other than yoyojam, but I don’t think that they are fully taking advantage of the properties of a bi metal yoyo.) I mean, the yoyo jam patent only protects a heavier density ring on the outside of the yoyo so there is still opportunity for them to make it. They just don’t for some reason. Anyone care to explain the reasons why?

Edit: I just remembered the Northern spin co. Helix. But my question still stands, why are there so few bi metals from North America?

There is the YYJ Next Level.

Remember the Phenom?

I honestly think the Phenom was the very first truly performant bi-metal…

Yeah there are some but not many…

Catch 22

The yoyojam patent is somewhat infuriating. It’s standing right in the way of innovation/progression and having very little done with it. I’m sure YYJ have done some good things with it over the years (I barely own any YYJ’s, as I personally think they’re all pretty unpleasant on the eyes), but you know that Onedrop could do better.

Thank goodness for Japan eh?

I know this is a YYR thread, but just saw this this morning and it looks great. God-Tricks Trump. Aluminum with SS rims. Should be fine to sell in the US since it’s more like the Anglam than Draupnir, but wow so pretty, and knowing God-Tricks’ prices it should be well under $100. Seriously US, get your act together.

Sorry for the double post, but the Laser is back in stock just now, and the exchange rate is looking mighty fine. Can’t remember which of you are waiting for it or i’d PM you, but hopefully anyone who wants one gets one.

Yeah, just noticed them a bit ago…my self imposed yoyo budget this month has just about no shot. Already pretty much reached it and I’m getting a Puffin 2 for sure and wanted a clear Benchmark O just so I wouldn’t feel silly paying shipping on a string order. If/when I pick up the Laser I’m almost certainly going to pick up a Six just because it’s $70, so why not. I realllllly wish they’d release an anodized Laser though.

Wanted to point out, which has already been pointed out, Laser’s are available. Has anyone heard anything or know anything about getting some anodized Laser’s. I am assuming it will be around the same time frame it took from Draupnir release to the time we saw them anodized but I admittedly wasn’t really “feeling” YYR at that point and so don’t know what that time frame is. I am intrigued because I want this Laser so bad right now but really don’t want it raw and am wondering if I am going to be able to hold out. It is going to look so pretty all anodized on the outside with the SS or more dense 7075 or whatever that beautiful rim is still raw… / drool.
