I apologise in advance for mentioning a non YYR throw in this thread, but stickman have you tried the C3 Krown? I felt the same way when I started throwing mine, I’ve never found another throw that even feels close to how it plays. If you’ve got money to burn I’d definately recommend it… it feels like a cloud on a string, like it’s barely even there, but it just keeps spinning and spinning. Never felt anything like it.
Dazzler looks beautiful and congrats to anyone that got their hands on one. If they ever make it to YYE, I might just have to pick one up.
Alright, enough already. All this jibber jabber just made me pull the trigger. Tempered rim Draupnir and a Mr Butcher on their way. It’s all your fault.
Same here. After much (much, much) deliberation I finally pulled the trigger on the Draupnir. Well, that and I didn’t realise they were in stock (thanks Slowyojoe, your post had a domino affect, haha.)
What made up my mind? Well the way I see it, Stickman has like 50 Anglams and pretty much every high end yoyo ever made it seems. So if he’s raving about it and putting it in his top 3, then it must be something pretty darn incredible.
As far as comparing the TiWalker to the dazzler its a little early since I haven’t thrown either enough to really have much to say. But, I can say the TiWalker has a different feeling on the string. Some people use the word “cloudy” to describe how a throw feels and that’s what I’d say about the TiWalker. Some may prefer this feeling but I don’t really appreciate it that much. It’s not that I dislike that quality its just not something that makes me enjoy a throw. The size both width and diameter are almost exactly the same while the catch zone is different.
I can also say the two play different in the “throw” as well. I don’t read to many reviews that compare this or even write about it in general but how a yoyo feels on a throw is an attribute that I truly like or dislike. When I throw the dazzler I can feel how well its spinning or how fast the yoyo unwound but I can’t really say the same about the TiWalker.
This is my first yyr and also my favorite yoyo so far. My favorite before was the chief then no real second as I really like a lot of others pretty equal as each has its own character. I can say my least favorite higher end throw is my second run peak. It just feels heavy and weird to me when compared to today’s throws. It’s also my oldest throw as well I think.
Edit after more playing
The Dazzler is more stable than the TiWalker. This doesn’t really mean much to the more advanced players but since I’m more along the lines of intermediate it helps me complete the tricks I’m learning a little easier. I worked soley on spirit bomb for aprox 20 minutes with both Tis tonight and actually returned the Dazzler to my hand for my first spirit bomb completion. I would guess I had about 4-5 good hours of trying this trick with the chief accounting for aprox 60-70% of the time.
I actually did some critical thinking.
I have a Draupinir too, and I just couldn’t understand. How on EARTH is it so powerful?! the answer actually does lie in the rims.
The 2 densities of the alu, considering steel is SO much heavier it makes the Draupnir have the power of a 70g yoyo. the power reminds me of the Dreadnought G. Its that powerful.
But, it can be so light at the same time, due to the much lighter density of the Alu. Very smart concept. More people need to use steel as a yoyo. Its quite a genius Design.
Quick question for those who also have the tempered rim draupnirs. The rims on mine aren’t completely blue. More than half of one of the rims isn’t colored at all. How blue are you guys rims?
It has a pretty neat look. Almost looks like the rims on mine have like and iridescent acid wash.
I agree with what you said. It’s a interesting feeling playing a yoyo that feels so light and has such a powerful spin!! It DESTROYS the stereotype of a light yoyo being unstable. It’s a very cool design.
