Will be the future, but it is a future that leaves me a bit puzzled.
I don’t like typically the bimaterial or things built for “intrusion” …
Looking at the pictures the thickness of aluminum beneath the ring of steel is thin, almost invisible, I wonder, in case of collision the steel ring is hard and if you deforms slightly turn back to its original form, but the alluminium thin layer that is below? you might not irreversibly deform? steel rings could not blow away? … I hope they have done no testing in this sense because the sight seems like a fragile object and that is not cheap to be a yoyo aluminum / steel (it’s the list price that had the tiwalker!)
If you look at the picture with the SS rings on the Draupnir, the thickest part of the machined steel ring is over the area that you are concerned about. I do not believe that this steel could deform enough to affect the aluminum unless the force is such that both bend equally.
I do not, however, play my Draupnir on anything other than carpet or grass. I might ding it…
The Draupnir’s rings, i suspect are made from 316 (medical grade) stainless steel, which is harder to ding and nearly 4 times more denser than the aluminum. Which means if you’re able to ding the weight rims all the way to the aluminum, you either didn’t check your string length before throwing, or you need to learn to properly care for your yoyos.
Haha, my middleman runs a local yoyo store (d’oh!). I just like using the word middleman, makes it sound ambiguous and dodgy ;D
If anyone knows Mimi from 28Spin, that’s my middlemanwoman right there.
Anyway, Kengo informed her (and i suppose, other YYR distributors) that the Dazzler is available for pre-order.
Yes, it’s not on the website, distributors have their own login on YYR’s website to make orders.
Draupnir arrived this morning. Had a quick session with it putting it through it’s paces with a bit of everything. Handles superbly and really zips along. The switch from their own pads to IrPads was a good decision.
Mine arrived this morning as well, the shipping time was a very brief 5 days. I agree with everything Yuki states. it is a real beauty !! YoYoRecreation has completely outdone themselves. It has the appearance of a beautiful piece of jewelry.
I have only had the opportunity to throw it for about 2 hours at this point, but this YoYo lives up to every expectation I had. The RAW finish is so nicely polished that you have a hard time remembering that it is RAW. The somewhat light weight gives it the speed that I’d hoped for, but the incredible rim design keeps this beauty quite stable.
This is without any doubt, my favorite YoYoRecreation model. Still loving my Gleipner though.
I just do not understand why they are producing such small runs !! This is a YoYo that everyone should have an opportunity to have in their collection.
This is the future for YoYoRecreation.
I plan to do an appropriate photo shoot of mine, but I’m away from home for the holiday weekend, so it will have to wait until I return home.
The Draupnir is a complete success for a design…IMO.
