And the inner cup ring appears to be laser-engraved. I don’t see the benefits of making it out of a different metal other than to up the price and cause headaches for the manufacturer.
The one downside of Japanese yoyos is how hard it is to get information sometimes. YYR need a US liaison, especially with prices becoming less for us and their popularity increasing.
Stainless steel rims confirmed!!! Also all of their other yoyos are 50% off at JN, so wonder if they’re about to drop a whole run of these hybrids. Awesome.
Maybe I just want it to be so, but I think most of YYR team members used the Draupnir at JN this year… Actually, except for Ryosuke Iwasawa, I can’t remember anyone from YYR not using what I suppose to be the Draupnir
Yeah i can’t tell from watching the videos. I’d be surprised if Tokubuchi and Fujisaka ditched their sig models for the competition. Pretty sure they used the Attune and Blink, respectively. But their throws do appear to be pretty decent-sized and shiny, so i dunno. Either way Krown and Draupnir instantly shot to the top of my want list. Will buy as soon as they show up. Other possibility is that they’re about to drop a whole series of hybrid throws, which would be crazy.
This looks smaller than the Draupnir:
Raw Blink? Still can’t get over how shiny the Draupnir is though. I doubt it’s nickel plated, but maybe a new clear ano that leaves more shine, or maybe just raw and engraved?
Anyone wants to try their hand at translating Fujisaka talks about the Draupnir on Twitter: x.com
“It is a yo-yo of narrow diameter larger width than the blink!”
No way it’s smaller than 52mm, though, right? Looks much larger. Wonder if it’s the other way around and it’s a translation thing? I’m guessing 56mm x 41mm.
my raven like need for shiny objects compels me to buy but wouldn’t it be cool if they sold this and 2 other yo-yos that are random like the mystery box but one guaranteed draupnir
I am doing exactly that. I’m almost embarrassed doing it, but then I think about how little money I’ve spent on yoyos this year. I actually made a small spreadsheet detailing the amount of money I spend each year on hobbies. So far this year, I’m down over 200% from last! There IS a Draupnir in my future!
