I got my first YYR yesterday, and I have a question. YYRs are supposed to have a bit of vibe, right? Mine is a unengraved Overdrive, and the previous owner said that even though it was marked a b grade, everyone who tried it (including Palli) said it played like an a grade. So is it supposed to have a hint of vibe?
It was a âBâ grade for a reason. YYR are usually dead-smooth.
That said, vibe is WAY over-hyped. Who cares is crummy yoyo is smooth as glass? Who cares if a beast yoyo has a slight vibe? Focusing on the manufacturing standards usually distracts from what is truly important: design.
Its the yoyo; not the vibe.

Any idea how to tune it? The axle is so short I canât even wrap teflon tape. Also, value? Appraisal threadâs taking a long time.

Hmm⌠none of the YYRs I have tried (e=mc^2, Gleipnir, Laser, three Draupnirs, two Diffusion 2âs) are dead smooth, though I can see why many people might think this. They are extremely close to dead smooth, but I still havenât found anything as smooth as an Ares Star except maybe a couple Turning Points. I can generally feel the vibe on the string with YYR stuff, but itâs not visible and easy to miss.
I do agree that vibe is overhyped. The level of vibe experienced in YYR throws is almost undetectable, and somewhat less than what youâd find in most companies. There are smoother throws out there though.
Is YYR selling Sputniks at Worlds and if so, what is the price? Thanks

Well, if it was that $50 red one, then thatâs what itâs worth I guess.
Itâs not the bearing. Iâve used every YYR with the default DS as well as NSK bearings (my go-to bearing) and there is always a small amount of string vibe. I just think unless one has experienced a truly dead smooth throw they mistake this for dead smooth.
Iâve felt this way myself. Iâve been throwing since 06 and tried 3 dead smooth yoyos
Then from this feedback I guess I got a great deal for $50. I managed to tune it yesterday and it now is about as smooth as a SPYY.
The last emerald green Draupnir at YYR finally sold out. Thereâs still 16 left at other sites thoughâŚprobably a while before those are gone.
Good news is this probably means a new color will pop up soon. Iâd cross my fingers for purple but it could be âslate blueâ or something equally great so Iâm trying to manage my expectations.
I heard rumors about next run of Draupnir. It will be released a month or twoâŚ
Few words about Triad. I bought one on WYYC and itâs have extremely vibe -_- any of them play like this?

Siriusly tho, mine is somewhere in between my izm and my sp2. The diffusion I tried vibed more than my classic, which itself I picked out of 5 which vibed just as much.
Its a molded plastic, so yolo.
