So I plan on buying a YYR this summer. With the current prices, I can’t afford not too
But I can’t really decide between the Mr. Butcher and Attune. Anyone care to sway my decision? I’m leaning towards the Butcher because I’ve never cared for the sharp edges of the average YYR.
And I have to make the even harder decision if I want gold or black :-[
I just got me my Fragment! I have to say, I love it way more than my Sleipnir. I love my Sleipnir but holy moley my Fragment is something. Kind of small but it does spin amazingly well.
It plays really zippy and light but stable!
My number 1, I can feel it. I WAS MADE FOR THIS YOYO. Or it was made for me, and Isawawa.
But yeah, gosh darn, I love it.
I’ll be getting back to you tomorrow Ragingpain! My midterms died down!
If they really discontinued the Acrophobia then the Perfectstar is closest thing to it that we can get.
I’m really intrigued on how it plays because of its specs. Too wide and too heavy. But I’m sure it will blow my mind like the other YYRs. ;D
No problem, man! Study must be top priority. I’m glad you found the yoyo that really suits you.
Isn’t the Perfectstar discontinued as well? Well, never really produced I guess. What ever happened to the Jealousy, Perfectstar and I can’t think of the other one, maybe it was the Blink that I’m thinking of? I know the Blink is out now but I just remember those releasing and not knowing much about YYR’s at the time and never saw them again. Anyways, going to post one more time, anyone willing to trade something for a near mint Overdrive? Chase Baxter | Flickr
I’m pretty sure the Jealousy and Third Impact are the ones that will not be produced.
I’m really lucky to have the prototype of the former. ;D
The Perfectstar replaced the Third Impact as Kengo’s sig. Yeah, they didn’t annouce that it will be brought to production but there’s a big possibility.
Last time I checked gold was all out. I love my Mr. Butcher it has this unique feeling. It is solid but with a forgiving catch zone. I have tried to explain it and it is just… different.
I’ve come to the conclusion that trying to describe how a YYR feels is like trying to nail jelly to a wall. Haven’t had a chance to play a Mr Butcher but I can definitely vouch for the Attune. It plays like a slightly bigger Stargazer but isn’t any wider than a Stargazer.
It doesn’t play quite as fast as you’d expect for the weight. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still plenty fast but not tear-your-face-off-your-skull fast. Possibly due to it being slightly narrower than a lot of modern throws which means the weight is a bit more condensed. Not too sure of the physics here. The equally likely alternative explanation is that YYR secretly have some sort of sorceror locked up in their basement.
Hey guys… this seems like a fitting place to ask this question.
When ordering directly from YYR, do they usually send you a confirmation email?
The only email I got was from paypal saying they received the funds.
I emailed them a day ago asking for confirmation, but still no reply.
I purchased the yoyo 5 days ago and have yet to hear a word about it.
I know some of you have a lot of experience dealing with YoYoRec, so any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
(I apologize if I am breaking forum rules about mentioning another store. The YYE community members are by far the best source of knowledge for answering this question.)
I got an email from them saying order processed and then one saying order completed when it shipped. What’s your order status on their site say? Sometimes it takes them a while to respond just because of language stuff. Did the funds draw from your account? Also i think it’s some sort of holiday week in Japan.
I think that holiday weekend is most likely the reason.
The funds were drawn from my account 6 days ago. I got a receipt, but no confirmation or order number.
Here is what I found on teh interwebs: The end of April (29th) through around May 5th is called “Golden Week” in Japan since there are many national holidays during this period. Many Japanese offices close for about a week to 10 days, depending on the calender.
The mystery boxes are back in stock!!! I picked one of them up, couldn’t help myself. Im hoping for a z-on, Mr.Butcher, and Blink. Crossing my fingers. It says it is a A- lucky box. Are those b-grades?
I think they have separate B grades, so maybe just barely below A? Or maybe they changed the name of B? Actually i’ve never heard them themselves call them B grades, just what i’ve seen them as, so who knows. Grabbed one as well. Too bad the USD/JPY has been down the past week or it’d be a screaming deal. Will be curious what shows up.
My Blink arrived today! I will be posting pictures later tonight.
It is the most beautiful throw I have ever seen.
This thing play super fast and nimble, yet extremely stable and long spinning. Pretty amazing little piece of design.
It is screwed together extremely tightly. Is it safe for me to muscle this bad boy open? I have some IrPads on the way and it will need to be opened eventually.
Is that the order you were waiting on? Was just about to PM you a screenshot of what my emails from them look like, wonder if their order processed and completed emails were getting caught up in your spam filter because of the Japanese characters or something? Let me know if you’d still like that.
Anyway they come with Irpads already do they not? Personally i’m never in a hurry to open a new yoyo, regardless of manufacturer, and have some that i’ve never opened, unless the pads are bad i’d leave it be, but yeah it’s fine to muscle open if needed. Any sort of YYR opening concern is completely blown out of proportion and nothing that doesn’t affect every other company imo, so no concerns there.
