basepi, thank for explaining to Shai (and me) why his wording caused such reaction. My wife has trained me to see some patterns in speech that are offensive, but I still fail to understand why those patterns elicit such response. So while Shai may not care, I do, and am grateful for the explanation. That’s, like, some sort of whisperer gift or something.
Back on topic. I do not like the green Draupnirs. It is not so much the color itself but if I’m spending that much money, I better well love the color. I’ve been drooling over the silver(raw?) and black matte though. I love purple too so I would snatch one of those up if I had the funds. Time to make some ebay listings, me thinks.
Studio42 was really helpful. The only real resemblance I see with Shai and Studio is that they have/had very firm preferences. Their opinions are strong and they could careless if you disagree. Shai makes very long post, like studio42. However, I still find Studio’s contributions a tad bit more helpful. The time that I was on this forum when studio was still around, he spent less time on whimsical (color) arguments with other forum members. I’m not saying your opinion isn’t valued Shai, just that I feel the Studio42 comparisons aren’t very accurate. You’re comment about people not liking Studio42 is true. I had no beef with him. It’s hard to be friends with everyone when opinions are so conflicting and strong. You’re not Studio42 Jr. You’re Shai. I guess you already knew that though.
As for Emerald Green, I really don’t care for the color. Purple looks better IMO.
I’ve argued about color exactly once. And it wasn’t really an argument, just me stating my opinion and people not liking it. Feel free to ignore the 60 or so hours I’ve put into writing reviews, though, and focus on the 30 minutes I’ve spent here talking about green yo-yos. I think we can all agree that’s fair.
I had an attuned gap Draupnir and I just received a regular gap one. I can honestly say that I prefer the regular gap. I have had no issues during play, and it makes fancy binds easier IMO. I must be crazy but I also prefer the look of the raw silver to the matte black.
It’s what they’ve decided to call the new matte black Draups with the wider gap. It’s the same gap as the Attuned version but doesn’t have his name on the new ones. So they’ve settled on “Bob”.
Quick question. I got a Diffusion2 from a trade last week and sold it a day later. Befor that i noticed a few marks and assumed it was just casting marks from the when they were being made. Just want to know if everyone had the same marks and it was not damage. I sold it as MIB because i assumed that it was not damage but casting marks.
Can anyone help clear this up.
I’m always chill (and have taken chill pills today already, thank you). People just get the impression I’m not because I don’t express myself well.
So I should be getting a bunch of YYRs (and one yoyojoker) soon. Got a matte black Draupnir arriving Saturday or Monday, maybe a Z-On arriving soon if I get that trade worked out, and an E=mc^2, Gleipnir, and yoyojoker luminous coming tomorrow.
I’m wondering which of these are worth keeping? Besides the Draupnir obviously ;D
I have two Diffusion 2’s and checked them over. On both halves of each there are rough spots exactly 90 degrees apart (i.e, 4 per half). I’m not sure if this is the same in your picture. It’s hard to tell without a super-high-res photo. Yours is high-res enough but the contrast is not good, so IDK.
You can see two marks on each yo-yo on the lower rims. The easiest to see is on bottom left of the left yo-yo and bottom right of the right yo-yo. I can’t see the ones on the higher rims in these photos but can in person. Are these what you’re talking about? If so it’s normal.
Oh BTW, earlier today YYR dropped two new colors for the Diffusion 2. So now there are clear, clear yellow, clear blue, clear red, and white.
Of those, the Luminous is definitely a keeper. I really regret selling mine, but I’m not a huge fan of the rim:center weight ratio. Those plastic inserts irk me.
I thought they were acrylic? I get your point though. I like yo-yos with high rim weight too, since they tend to be the most stable and long-spinning. But that’s Yoyojoker for you, breaking the norms of yo-yo design…
I sometimes get the feeling that yoyojoker deliberately look at the norm and go, “yup, we’re not doing that”. It’s produced some great designs so I’m not complaining.
As for the marks on the Diffusion, it’s hard to be absolutely positive but they just look like the usual machining/mould marks to me.
Shai, I wasn’t coming at you. Things like color not just color are things that ya often have strong opinions on. I didn’t say you weren’t helpful at all. I merely pointed out that the studio42 comparison isn’t exactly accurate. You’re very different in you’re own ways. You’re reviews are great and you’re BST is very detailed. Just ignore any nice thing I have to say about you though. It’s much easier to take offense.
I really like the emerald Draupnir. As much as I typically don’t go after solid colored yoyos, I think that all the Draupnir releases look great with the solid color anodize and the rims. My only gripe is that black is the only blasted color right now. I just put the majority of my yoyos on my BST since I rarely touch them but I would strongly consider purchasing a 2nd Draupnir if they released a different color with a blast.
