Good to know, although I don’t really understand.
I didn’t know if you all knew but… you can buy the Triad now.
I need a triad, looks so good!
I was wondering the same thing. Did I miss one somewhere?
Specification:
Triad
Weight: 66.3 g
Diameter: 55.1 mm
Width: 43.2 mm
Diffusion 2
Weight: 65.1 g
Diameter: 57.8 mm
Width: 43.1 mm
These specifications aren’t really like the Laser or Draupnir at all.
I think the Diffusion 2 is just a high quality plastic of new design, and the Triad a high quality bimaterial of new design.
I haven’t played either, but in general I’m skeptical of a 7800 yen = $80+ with shipping plastic yoyo considering I can get great full metal yoyos for less. The only advantage I can see for the high-end plastics is maybe with 5A for people afraid to use full metal.
Just got my hands on the new Diffusion and Triad! The diffusion’s real fun to play and the Triad’s solid. I’ll post some comparison pictures in a bit
Sweet!
That is very compelling !!!
It appears to be a plastic version of the Draupnir…
Now I must have one. ;D
Thanks for the photos flambo.
Annnnd they’re gone.
Yeah Triads are gone anyway, but they’ll be back. Some stores just get stuff sooner than others. They probably won’t reach Yoyoexpert for ages but it’s not really their fault. YYR doesn’t even have them up yet…
I didn’t seem to have any real problem finding a Triad to buy.
As the old cliché goes: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way”.
I’ll post some photos when it arrives early next week.
Well I could have bought one if I wanted one. I’ve only seen one site that had them yet and they probably bought them at the convention last weekend. I didn’t particularly want one, but they did sell out quite fast. I don’t like plastic yoyos… certainly not for that price. And if I already have a Draupnir what’s the point?
Seriously I don’t get the allure of an $80 plastic yoyo even if it’s a good plastic yoyo.
Who said you had to get one?
For me it’s all about feel for plastics. I don’t buy plastics expecting the best performance, even though some play amazing of course, but rather because they tend to be fun, and at the end of the day a fun yoyo is more important to me than the best performing one. So if people say that the Triad or new Diffusion have that unquantifiable quality of fun, i’ll probably get them. The Yeti definitely fell in this category for me. I thought it was super overpriced, until i owned one briefly, now i’m like c’mon CLYW and get your act together i need to buy a bunch.
I guess I figured out what the third yoyo is… Just saw it on an overseas site and it’s already out of stock (could be an indication they’re pre-listing it, they do that sometimes).
I have no idea what to make of it, it’s called the Negator, costs 15000 yen, is made out of plastic according to specs (looks like delrin), and looks completely bizarre.
The listed specs look normal and I’m not sure I believe them because this yoyo is so weird looking.
Weight:
65.1 g
Diameter:
57.8 mm
Width:
43.1 mm
Body Material:
PC/ABS
Google it. From the crappy google translate description it seems like it’s a looping yoyo, but it doesn’t look like any I’ve seen before. Plus 15000 yen for looping yoyo is kind of insane :-\
P.S. @ Naoki, stickman seemed to imply I missed getting one because I couldn’t find one. How I read his post anyway. I was just clarifying I didn’t see the appeal, that’s all.
I asked my dad to buy whatever new YYRs were available at JN2014 and only came back with Triads and Diffusions so I don’t think they ended up releasing the third one. Maybe announced? But not released.
Definitely a looper. Was hoping for another metal. Something a little smaller and even lighter than the Draupnir would be amazing.
