It’s red so you wouldn’t want it.

Unfortunately, Fenrir is taken by YoyoMonster. I like the other names though.

well the addiction was also taken by SPYY…

Well YYR and YYM are both Japanese companies so they can’t infringe each other’s patents I suppose. Compared to Japanese sOMETHING and Canadian (also defunct) SPYY.

Anyway I just thought of Fenrir because Gleipnir was the legendary chain used to bind the wolf Fenrir. I wondered why they didn’t just call the Gleipnir Fenrir, since Gleipnir is pretty obscure. YYM Fenrir is older than all the YYR Norse names I think. Maybe they were inspired by that?

I don’t know much about patents in Japan, but from a European point of view, patents issues look more like a typically american phenomenon

Its just an unwritten rule dont name your throws with something that’s already taken.

To me, the typeface used looks more cyberpunk than runic. Would be pretty awesome to have it written in Old Norse XD

Draupnir and Dazzler were both first shown at JN last year right? So could be exciting. Then of course the month+ wait for them to be released will be terrible again.

Yoyorecreation was the first brand to use names taken from Norse mythology with Sleipnir in 2009.
the Mr. Butcher was one of the models that I wanted more, for the weight distribution for new and Hiroyasu Ishihara that love it, I have two (red and yyr.jp edition) and the second set I bought a Z- on … just for the affordable price and without much conviction.
Mr. Butcher the play very well, but out of ten times, using the Z-on eight times and two on the Butcher … I feel a bit 'light weight and its distribution, however effective, does not allow a great spinn

Oh right sleipnir, the eight-legged horse that Oden can ride to Hel.

Anyway as far as I know all those Norse names they’ve used are actually written in the Old Norse spelling. except for some minor stylistic differences on certain letters. Old Norse has a predominantly Latin alphabet (same as English), plus a handful of special characters. Like Mjolnnir usually has an umlaut over of the o, but… Draupnir, Gleipnir, Sleipnir, Fenrir…these are already Old Norse.

There are tons of legendary Norse figures that can’t be written in Old Norse using the Latin alphabet, so the yoyo companies seem to be avoiding names that contain special characters.

REALLY old Norse was more runic (proto-Norse) but we know all the legends mostly from the Prosaic and Prose Eddas, which were written in Old Norse.

I have no idea how to write those names in runic proto-Norse. Sounds interesting but it would be pretty confusing to stare at a yoyo with a bunch of runes nobody noes how to pronounce

Sorry, went way off topic. I find Norse mythology interesting and so do Japanese yoyo companies, apparently. I haven’t seen much from other mythologies except Ares Star, a confusing name meaning “Greek God of War Star”.

/ end rambling.

OH, meant to ask. Hey persson do you like Mr. Butcher or Z-ON better? I’ll probably pick up one next month if I can still find them. At the moment I’ve spent my monthly yoyo budget on a Laser plus some bearings :stuck_out_tongue:

I usually play with yoyo large diameter and substantial weight, my favorites are third impact, dreadnought g and overdrive, so I’m not the best person to give you advice.
the mr. butcher I like the most aesthetically, and has a weight distribution very unusual for yyr … but in the end I prefer to play the z-on, I feel more and more spinn to me … how to return are identical because mountain a measure of the pad with a larger diameter …
You should be able to choose to play with both … and anyway they both deserve to be possessed … good choice!

So, second new product is Triad, plastic with metal weight rings. Seems price is 70$, compared to 30$ for new Diffusion

It’s looking like a yoyo that can’t be sold here in the US for the same reason Draupnir can’t be sold here. :-\

Looks pretty cool, though! I’ll definitely be looking into getting one of those.

no it can be sold in the us its not the outermost material

Very cool design! Will definitely grab one.

Kengo is a genius. I mean really; a genius.

When I think of the amazing performance and innovative designs Yoyorecreation has brought to the community in the last year; it is truly staggering. Thank you Kengo. Thank you Yoyorecreation.

Seems like a yyj copy, the axle system is similar as well as the rings.

Those look really great. But I’ll reserve judgment and wait for the reviews (hopefully from unbiased sources in either direction) before I drop $70 on a weight-ringed plastic.

I love the design.

Looks very good, reminds me of a hybrid draupnir. This and the general yo amplitude might be the only throws I have to get in 4 months.
