Sweet thanks!
Though I havenāt played a Draupnir for more than 2 minutes, the Reclash really surprised me with how well it plays. I feel like itās overlooked.
It was designed specifically for 5A? Did YYR say that somewhere? I just thought the specs looked like theyād be good for 5A
Just got an Attune and a Re-Clash. Both are absolutely fantastic. I also got to try a Blink and a Mr. Butcher at MA states, and wow, theyāre both really good.
You played a fragment too haha! Was awesome meeting you Sean. I was kinda upset I didnāt get to try a draupnir at MA statesā¦hopefully at NER someone will have one.
Finally got a Draupnir few days ago, Iām still astounded. I must say I prefer the feel of the Sleipnir in the hand, but itās more stable.
False! It was designed for 3A not 5A!
Okay how do you know that? Iām aware Tachibana uses it in 3A competitions but thatās all I know. Did YYR say somewhere Laser was designed for 3A? Or do they just show Tachibanaās video because itās the highest anyone has placed with a Laser in a major competition? Its specs are similar to a lot of 5A throws though. Maybe the requirements for 3A and 5A are similar. Iām just guessing, I know very little about 3A.
Iāve tried asking YYR directly but they havenāt responded yet. They did tell me six or seven weeks ago that anodized Lasers would hit the market in the ānot too distant future,ā whatever that means. Iām guessing they release them within a month or two, but who knows reallyā¦
One can only hope. I also really want to try a Laser, they look fantastic.
Also, that Fragment you have is so good. I need one. It does not play as light as it is, itās incredible.
Played a Dazzler last Saturdayā¦
I donāt think it was designed for anything specific. Itās just that the first person to really compete with it on team YYR was a 3A player, leading players to believe it was designed for 3A. I think it would be great for both 3A and 5A since they have somewhat close preferences.
the laser is a 3A yoyo (as the clash and triplet), for this reason it is tight.
models designed specifically for the 5A are the mr. Butcher and the Z-on which the measurement pads increased.
having said that, with every yoyo you can still play in every style.
I agree. Sometimes I find I prefer the Sleipnirās āfeelā; both in the hand and and on the string. It is such a perfect yoyo. But the Draupnir is just⦠you said it better.
Haha, close enough, theyāre all the same to me since i donāt play anything other than 1A. Doesnāt matter anyway. Worrying about what a yoyo was designed for before getting it is silly. The Laser is a fabulous yoyo for 1A, and therefore should be great at 3A and 5A as well. 2A and 4A with it could be tricky though. :o
This is pretty awkward, Iāve owned tons of high-end throws, but it feels like the Draupnir is on an even higher level than what Iāve played this far.
Itās like I found a āmagicā yoyo, I land almost all my tricks with a higher ratio of success than usual. Maybe itās a placebo effect, as itās the first metll yoyo Iāve thrown this year. It would be awesome if YYR made a pink version of it.
And now Iām dying for trying a Laser too.
Not silly to me, when it costs $200. I already have two top-notch 1A throws. And Iāve used random yoyos for 5A and for me the weight and dimensions make a big difference as to the difficulty of certain tricks. You canāt just assume the best 1A throws are the best 5A throws. Iām pretty sure they arenāt. I mean Iām sure any $200 yoyo is at least adequate for 5A but some will be better than others and when youāre spending a lot of money why not research it first?
Though I havenāt tried my Draupnir with the diceā¦afraid to ding it up. Hmmā¦maybe Iāll put a monkey ball on there and try it out, but I think the tight binds might be an issue. Nobody uses the Draupnir for 5A in competitions as far as I know so itās probably not great
What people use in competitions for a certain style means nothing. See, this whole thing youāre worried about here doesnāt even exist. Any of their yoyos would be adequate for 5a just as they are for 1a. What it comes down to is what feels good for YOU for each style. Whatās good at 5a for Samm Scott doesnāt mean itās the best for you to use. The yoyos they produce specifically for one style is only because that is what a certain player likes to use for said style. It is not a be all, end all discussion.
Donāt be so close-minded.
And what did you think? I seem to be the only one who actually prefers it to the draupnir (who has played both), and finds it more stable. I would be surprised if anyone thought it felt less comfortable in the hand.
I really need a splash Sleipnirā¦
Chill, I donāt think Iām being close-minded. I just donāt think itās a big leap in logic to assume yoyos being used by top 5A players are better for 5A than random high end yoyos in general. I realize signature throws are made for a specific playerās style in mind, but 5A tricks in general have much in common and are very different from 1A tricks, so there should be more common ground between 5A signature throws than random yoyos in general. I didnāt mean to imply whatās being used by a specific player is the best 5A yoyo for meā¦but hypothetically if 20% of top 5A players are using Yoyo X and 1% are using Y, then statistically Yoyo X is probably better for 5A tricks.
