The Laser has a 56mm diameter with only a 40mm width. I typically do not like yoyos with a standard/large diameter and small width. Additionally, the profile is very similar to the Sasquatch/Avalanche, which are great players, but still among my least favorites in the CLYW lineup.

I don’t really know what else to say, I’m not quite sure why whether or not I liked the yoyo, why I didn’t care for the yoyo and what my yoyo preferences are have come under fire. I’m simply stating that neither the shape of the Laser nor the shape of the Draupnir struck me as something that I would love. As it turned out, the Draupnir ended up being an excellent fit for me, whereas the Laser did nothing for me. I was merely suggesting that perhaps the lack of love for the Laser might be a result of others feeling similarly about the yoyo.

If you have any more intentionally obtuse, leading or condescending statements or questions about my opinions of a yoyo, feel free to fire away.

I posted positive comments about the Laser that were grounded in real observations about what I liked about it. Your response was basically “I hated the shape and could not wait to get it on BST”. Thanks for that response - it was nothing but vague and un-helpful.

What was the purpose of your response? My post had a purpose. It was to promote what I think is a great yo-yo. Your response is vague, patently negative; plus, you are unwilling to back it up except with further vagueness and attacks on me. Real cool. I guess the purpose of your response was to put-down the Laser? Yeah, that makes sense. The Laser, even though not as good as the Draupnir, is far better than 99.999% of other throws out there. Perhaps your negative comments should take that into account.

As always, negative input, with no facts or observations to back it up - is just that: negative.

Weird. I love the Laser so much. The shape feels sooo nice in the hand and its power is unreal. Definitely one of my tops.

Sorry Agredano meant to message you back but got caught up with work this week. As far as Laser v. Blink goes the Laser is definitely amazing and in another league. That said the Blink is also great, but i’d get the Laser first, then again the Blink might be trickier to get in the future, so i don’t know haha.

I must say, I like Laser maybe even more than Draupnir. I would choose Draupnir without doubt for contest, but off stage I would alwas reach for Laser.

One thing that I find curious given all this Draupnir love; why no love for the Laser? That beast is second only to the Draupnir in performance; and not by much. I love my Laser and am amazed that it stays in stock. I know people are waiting for more interesting colors on this design; but this is one of the best throws out there for sure. It plays with the ferocious performance of the Draupnir; but in a totally different form-factor and feel. If you do not have one, you are missing out on an amazing throw.

I wish they would make a blasted or, Matte version like they did with the Draupnir. Purple? Oh yeah; Purple!

Are 19mm pads (kpads, YYF pads, etc) the same size as thick YYR pads?

I have yellow YYF 19mm pads in my acrophobia at the moment, and they fit perfectly level. I was honestly very surprised with how well they fit. No snagging, or loose binds. Now I know what to buy to fit all my YYR throws!

Can anyone who’s thrown a Laser comment on its suitability for 5A?

I’m throwing an Agonist at the moment and it’s great but I’d like to try out something a bit heavier for comparison. If the Laser is good for 5A I think I will get that, if not, maybe a Z-on.

I don’t throw 5A, but the Laser was designed for 5A so yeah go with that.

Played one for about half an hour or so at a meet once. From memory, it feels like a slightly larger, slightly less stable and slightly less powerful Draupnir. Quite different from the rest of the YYR lineup in terms of play and shape.
