I love you all for donating a thanks. Yes I know Andre owns the site. LOL @ the slap your mom comment, however I’m not sure I would react in the same manner, however I am assuming you were being facetious as I was :D.
To the galaxy proton…It is hands down my favorite YYF yoyo color way, although I’ve never played a proton, I do like the geometry. I would buy that yoyo in a heartbeat if it came back, or really any other yoyo in that color. I would probably buy it over my current quest of an ash berry anything from CLYW which I am dying to get my hands on. And which we all know sells out within minutes of it hitting the market.
Andre and Ben, what do we have to do to make this color come back, or to do another run of those protons? Is it possible? (I don’t see why not) Should we Start a petition thread? The consumers are demanding and are willing to pay. However if slapping my mom is the only way to get another run brewing I’m still gonna have to give a strong NO. Lets just leave my saint of a mother out of this :).
ok, now that just makes me depressed that my Mystery Box Proton was just plain aqua You’re right though, incredibly smooth yo-you and very under-rated.
serious question: given country or origin and material similarities, what is the cause of price difference between a magic yoyo and a yyf shutter, for example?
if i might add nolang the magic yoyo company uses inferior materials… i have used many magic yoyos and the metal they contain is of a lower grade quality then the shutter.
The Magic Yoyo N12 uses 6061 aluminum, which is not at all inferior, and is still priced at $15. The reason is the huge amount that these are made in, surpassing even YYF in terms of quantity. Less is also spent on quality control, and the Magic Yoyos are pretty much sold directly, not through another retailer like Yoyoexpert.
given that kadabrium’s question (about metal quality) wasnt answered here or on ask.fm, i can only assume that they are in fact using the lower grade aluminum.
Other than the N12, Magic Yoyo does indeed use a lower grade of aluminum. Still a higher grade than whatever was used on Duncan Metal Freehand Zeros lol.
Hoping not to venture off into the topic of MYY specifically here, there are too many considerations aside from country of origin and materials. You’d have to consider the specific design, and business models of each company (keep in mind volume as well), and how they want their products to compete in the market. All those details vary from company to company, and we will never be privy to those details as consumers. I also do not believe that a company would reveal those details to a competitor for comparison. In some instances, retailers influence prices too. I hope that helps.
my questions were not directed at you at all. i would prefer insight from someone that actually works at yyf. and though i know you think every thread is a “post pictures of yoyofactory yoyos” thread, my post is on topic. this thread is about the country of origin of their yoyos and the reasons why. the magic yoyo is just an example of a yoyo made from the same material in the same country, there are many other examples of similar products that arrive at a lower price point, it seems that yyf is the outlier.
Nolang it seems you skip happily past everything that is intended for you to read… it has already been said that the material used by magic yoyo is of a much lesser grade the yyf… you can tell by how durable the metal is… magic yoyos metal is soft not very durable and its quality is not that of yyf.
Actually I would say the majority of Magic yoyos are sold by resellers on stores such as Amazon or eBay. and in bulk on alibaba and some other places that will get edited if I mention.
But I have heard a few times that YYF China are made in the same exact factory as MYY. But I have tried to confirm this and cannot find the information, so don’t qoute me on this. I do however know they are defaintly in the same city.
They already gave the reasons for the country of origin of their yo-yos. And, they aren’t going to comment on anything having to do with Magic Yoyo.
If you don’t like photos of YoyoFactory yo-yos, it’s just too bad. They are in the store, and they will be on the forum, wherever I put them. Deal with it. After all, you have no other choice.
Ben is currently away traveling so not checking the forums right now anyways… Making assumptions because he hasn’t responded yet would be incorrect. Will followup with YoYoFactory.
