Yoyo Boomers Club

Mr. Jake,

Thank you so much!

I agree with the committee.

How many units would we need to make a private run? I would like to get an idea of the feasability before we waste your time.

This is exciting.

Could go for the easy option and say “the respawn lite is already an ideal boomer yo-yo. Let’s just throw some color and graphics on it.”

Good first step. Also regarding committee thread or keep it here. No longer than it would take to decide it may be easier to leave it here. Also this would keep our footprint; on the community as a whole, to a minimum.

Fair keeping it here is fine. I guess first run of business.

Any volunteers for being on the boomer club yoyo committee?

I would also buy a respawn lite but like the idea of a “new” yoyo as well

I know little about the Respawn Lite but what I’ve seen so far does look good. I don’t have any insight into production or any such thing like that, only imaginings. Therefore I don’t feel like I have anyplace on said committee.

I was thinking something more like the Life, organic, schmoove groove, with a spike?

Unrelated to the new yoyo and the committee but funny enough if i look up boomer yoyo on google i get this thread, the most boomer yoyo thread and this:

Makes the idea of a proper “boomer” yoyo feel like a great idea.

I think there will be a minor split between those that want a responsive vs those that want an unresponsive and I’m not sure if making something that can do both would be enjoyable in the end. Part of why a committee sounds like s great idea. Personally I’m torn on either but I do love a good spike on a yoyo.

For me, I’m mostly interested in weight and shape. I have no preference where the cup is concerned. I did like the way that @G2_Jake put it. And this seemed to come from experience. Trying to come up with something that has an aspect for everyone who contributed an idea usually ends up watering down the final piece. So definitely a committee with people in the know would be best.

Honestly I can make any number work.

Issues come up if it’s like 15 units - normally I like protos but something this small I would skip protos because of the pricing issue. But really I can work with any run size for this project.

We can both. But I would like to knock out 1 first.

Two designs to be clear. Not a yo-yo that the bearing swaps.

I concur there would be a divide. To place only an opinion out there I would suggest responsive for this reason only: the market has no end of amazing unresponsive yo-yos to choose from with more coming out all the time. But amazing, life changing responsives a far fewer. And so many that have amazing reputations are unfortunately made of unobtainium.

Jake - I call that a democratic dictatorship. I implemented that system all the time. Someone in charge carefully collects feedback and ultimately makes the decision. :+1:

Voting get average. Not offensive, but no one really loves it.

I also am well read in the works of Sun Tzu - The leader makes a bad call, then takes ownership with no hesitation to lop his f****** head off. :slightly_smiling_face:

Of course, I’d liker to see a classic car color like Plymouth Roadrunner Purple or Scamp Green lightly splashed with a Rust color.

BTW: I’m in no way qualified to be on the committee, but I do live within an hour of Canton.

How’s your packaging skills? Do you like bourbon?

Let’s define the “Boomer” yoyo characteristic.

So far;

  • Organic shape?
  • High(ish) Walls?
  • Responsive?

Let the discussions begin. I want to give this a couple of days so all Charter Members can provide a opinion.

I would like to join. The boomer characteristics is that it’s made from wood, are basically the Imperial, and is fixed.

Who me?

I went through a phase where I tried all the popular stuff everyone raves about. Stagg, Lagavulin, Redbreast, etc., At the point where I’m just happy to have some Bulleit :call_me_hand:makes for a great Sazerac as well

Unresponsive - organic, higher wall, larger response than 19. Schmoove rings? IRG. Flat size C?

Responsive - thin. Looper style rims?

Capped? Or Silver bullet style?
