Well now there is a new question. I know which would NOT be the signature trick…DNA…
“Let me tell you a time about the good old days.” Then never do a trick at all and keep rambling about how it used to mean something to yoyo not just go viral on some “DNA” thing. /j
Likely walk the dog, that was the DNA of the start and was for a long time, still older people that see yoyos ask for it over the newer craze of DNA.
Hubstacks allow me to do a “cheat” DNA. I’m happy with that.
Facts are…I’ve never been able to spin anything on my finger. Flashback to gym class and all the pathetic attempts to spin a basketball on my finger.
I’m really bad at finger spins. I can do thumb and talon grinds, though!
My picks for Boomer Tricks;
Sleeper
Eifle Tower
Trapeeze Stall
Skin the Gerbil
Still learning the last one.
Ok I just read through nearly 800 previous messages in this thread so I could get up to date on what’s been happening. Crazy that a club yoyo is being developed. Are you correctly still in the waiting for a prototype to arrive stage, and do I still have an opportunity to get a production run? Very interested in the community designed responsive Workhorse.
You are correct. We are still waiting on the prototype
Good question though because, there is nothing worse than reading through a development thread and getting excited only to find out it’s a 5 year old thread.
Ok. You said this, and then I looked at G2’s video with Skin the Gerbil, and yeah…I think that’s next for me.
Wait… 5 years or 5 months old?
No no. I’m just saying as an example. That is NOT what has happened here, but it sucks when that does happen.
Correct.
Still waiting on 8 Prototypes to arrive.
I will be doing a Pay it Forward with one of the Prototypes. In the box will be weight rings, bearing blank, slimish bearing.
Ideally I would like to see this move as fast as reasonably possible. With the goal of getting as much feedback as we can.
If I give each member a week (Not including the shipping time), we wont submit for production for another year.
Based on when we placed the Prototype order, we may see it mid to late next month.
Gottcha, thanks for the update! Can’t wait to see photos of the physical proto and hear everyone’s feedback. Very exciting.
My 2¢ on the signature boomer trick, and I know this is going to be controversial and many probably won’t agree, is the dreaded kick-flip.
Now I know it’s definitely not a trick created in the baby boomer generation, but I’m coming at it from an outsiders perspective. If I pulled out my cotton stringed wooden Gnomad to show a Gen Alpha kid who watches rapid short form yoyo content a trick, they honestly may not even perceive a picture trick like rock the baby as a trick at all. To them, what would be more boomer than pulling out a wooden yoyo, throwing a trapeze stall, and then just making it do a little flip.
Again, I know this is a somewhat polarizing opinion given that the kick-flip is actually a really difficult trick to even land. Shoot, I’ve only ever really landed a few myself on the Mijo. I just think it’s great because it looks like a very old timey trick, while having somewhat modern roots. Not to mention, if the viewer pulls out their newest tri-metal, ceramic grooved bearing, competition, throw… they probably can’t do it. At least not without some practice. And what’s better than getting the opportunity to shake your head a little, furrow your brow, and mutter “they just don’t make ‘em like they used to.”… Which is also a pretty funny Yoyo Boomer catch phrase now that I think of it.
If you guys are joining the skin the gerbil remix contest this discord is for the posts if you’re not on IG.
Also added a boomer

Awesome Jake. Thank you. I’m sure this contest will have run its course and long since been relegated to the ill regarded tomes of yesteryear by the time I learn this trick. But I do appreciate the invite.
I am in line with your train of thought here.
“Hey Kid, God Speed this trick.”
I would also say anything 0A involving the stall style would be fit for purpose.
I second the Kick Flip. I can’t do it, but I second it.
I resemble that remark
I was going to recommend something like the UFO, but I like the idea of the KickFlip becoming the mascot trick. It’s challenging, and it seems a lot of us don’t know how to do it(me too). It could be a goal that all Boomers work towards completing, and something we can support each other and newcomers with accomplishing.
I’m good with either skin the gerbil or kickflip I like both tricks. Don’t yall make me walk the dog I’ll fight someone.
