Yoyo Boomers Club

Sarcasm

Can I join the Club?

-Can you Skin the Gerbil?

Yes

-Can you Kick Flip

No

-Sorry, better luck next time. You dont fit the criteria.

I would be instantly booted if this was a gate keeping requirement!

After I typed that up this morning, I decided to hunker down with a cup of coffee and start the arduous journey of landing a kick-flip. To my surprise I landed a couple after about 50-60 tries. Was a great way to start the day before leaving to work.

This is exactly where I went. Skin the Gerbil…you kidding me!!??:rofl::sweat_smile:

I love the kickflip, when I pick up my yo-yo it’s one of the first things I do!

I’d like to post here to my Boomers. I’m heading to the Post Office to start a Pay it Forward. I’ll get more info shortly. By the way, is there anyone who doesn’t know what the Pay it Forward is about?

I do not.

Alright. So the Pay it Forward works this way. I am going to share some of my yo-yos with the community. I will post details in the thread I will create shortly, but in essence I will ship my throws to the first person who says they want them. In this instance I have already sent them to @Pun1sh3R to try. I will set a time period for each individual to try them out and then they take responsibility to pay shipping to send to the next person who wants to try them and so on, and so on until no one else wants to try them. Some of the PIF’s on the forum have been going just over 3 years. They keep going based solely on the integrity of the individuals in the community and this has given me the confidence to offer this.

You’ll know how much I love a yoyo based on it’s “dog marks”. If I’ve deemed a yoyo as going to stay with me, then anything is fair game. The only yoyo I haven’t done it with is my 4mm YWET, it’s just too rare. Maybe someday I’ll consider it my “take to my grave” yoyo, but I also think because of it’s rarity maybe someday I’ll really need the money, so want to keep it clean :joy:

So with the excitement for the arrival of the prototypes of the Workhorse as well the eventual production release it gave me the idea to share some of my modified responsive throws with the community. All have been modified with narrow bearings and tuned to run them dry for a play that is very different from the stock setup of these throws which were basically semi-responsive. I will be sharing my Deep State, Deeper State, Confusion, Bi-metal Bumblebee, and a modified Snack that plays responsive(super fun!). Even if you have some or all of these throws, you will want to try these out, they are very different.
I will ask for a few opinions here and now though. What do you guys think I should call the PIF and how long do you feel like is adequate for each person to try them? I think most have done 4 weeks. I noticed a lot of individuals would move them on sooner and when I tried them I really felt like I got the point by 2 weeks. I’m not opposed to 4 weeks per but would like your input. Anyone who is interested has a say. I’ll be working on the thread and then I’ll stop hijacking the Club thread.:sweat_smile:

If those are the PIF yoyo selections, maybe something like “The Modded Responsive Pay it Forward”. It’s a mouthful, but clear.

I was sort of thinking along those lines.

True story.

You beat me to it, but I already had it locked and loaded.

Keeping with the Boomer Club theme. Maybe the “No Checkbook Needed PiF”

Not as descriptive, but fun

I went 3 weeks on the looper pif only because those starburst only have so much life in them and I figure one less week would let a few more folks try them before they run their natural course. I like 4 week pif as I often don’t have as much time on my hands and often by week 2 months I’ve only just started to get a feel for stuff especially for that many yo-yos.

Personally I have all those yo-yos (we have similar taste in yo-yos) and modded many of mine similar however I’ll probably get in on this pif at some point to compare your results vs mine.

Well I guess 4 weeks it is then. That’s good because I can just copy and paste someone else’s PIF rules.:rofl:

It is done…

I would vote Split the Atom. It was the trick I couldn’t land as a kid that I now can land on a butterfly, and it easily plays on responsive, semi-responsive, and unresponsive.

But I’m also totes cool with the kickflip.

Love me a good Split the Atom. I really need to learn more non-0A tricks on a fixie.

I have a question for you Boomers. Does anyone with hand/wrist issues seem to worsen as the weather gets colder? I haven’t been able to yo-yo for the past week or so because my hands and wrists have been in agony…
