Which dialect of mandarin are you learning?

Mandarin is the widely used standard form of the language, and will be understood anywhere like the Japanese hyoujungo(標準語)

I’m sure he will be fine, he has quite some time to learn the language with the aid of native speakers. My knowledge of the local slang at China isn’t so good and there are slight variations here in Malaysia as well, so the best I could help was on the general/grammar/everyday vocabulary/written form of the language. You are always welcome to PM me should you need any assistance

okay have fun with Chinese class my grandparents wanted me to take mandarin Chinese but they don’t offer it at my school cause i don’t live in the city. So I’m taking Latin instead its a fun language.

A friend of mine is Chinese and she speaks mainly Cantonese. I’m not sure where exactly in China her parents are from. I will ask her next time we talk. But, she watches a lot of Chinese movies and uses them to get better with Mandarin.

Will do, thanks!!

If her parents are from China, then there is a fair chance she is from Guangzhou(Canton) or if not, from Malaysia or Hong Kong, though the former is more likely. =)

Got a bracelet sale! Thanks for help guys!

Well done You’re on your way!

We’re so proud of you B.C. Job well done! We all knew you could do it. With patience, more will come as well.

While we’re at it, I want to fill you guys in on Ebay. I’m not sure if you guys have an Ebay account, and so on, but if you do, there are some advantages to using it. While you guys have been working the forum for sales, you may want to try that avenue as well. Multitasking that way is no different than other manufacturers having their products in different stores. You can work the BST and Ebay simultaneously. Now, Ebay has a phone app that makes it super easy to list things right from your phone. Snap a phone pic, type a short description, pick prices and shipping method…done.

Advantages of Ebay

  1. You will reach people you would not have otherwise. The forum has regular members online all the time, but how about the larger community of consumers that might be interested in your products. You guys can capitalize on sports team color holder and sports team colored bracelets. Don’t restrict yourselves to the forum, or the yo-yo community, unless you want to, or you have to. For Legyoyo, you may want to consider what other items your holder can secure, besides yo-yos. Capitalize on the larger community of consumers, if you can.

  2. You get to sit back, and wait for the money to come to you. You are allowed up to 50 listings per month. You can list your item for sale and simply sit back and wait for it to sell. Even if it does not sell within the one week auction, with the click of a button, you relist it and it’s for sale all over again. What do you care if you have to wait a week or six months to sell an item? It takes no effort at all to relist, so once you type that description and upload that photo…it’s a done deal. Just monitor your emails and respond to potential customers’ questions when they come in. Be honest, polite, professional and aim to please, and you’ll be fine.

Just remember that Ebay will take 9% of you profits, so you have to adjust your prices accordingly. But it’s not like you owe Ebay anything if your item does not sell, so what do you have to lose? If you make a listing, and you guys are honest, professional, and right to the point, with clear photos, your listings would stand out among the pack.

You guys may wonder why I don’t push my holders as much as I could. I have something else I do for my livelihood, that pays the bills and gets me what I need in life, so I have to prioritize. The holders are more of a hobby, something I enjoy doing, but I don’t want things getting too crazy. The fun thing about business, is that you can take it as far as you want it to go. I have chosen not to bite off more than I can chew, so the holders have done great exclusively on YoyoExpert…and I’m making a restock that should be ready in about a week.

I have over 600 transactions on two combined Ebay accounts. If there is anything you ever want to know about taking that route, just let me know and I’ll do my best to break things down for you.

The hard thing abou eBay is that the market place is flooded with paracord stuff and it seems like people are willing to take almost nothing for some of it; but if you can find a way to stand out and offer something different an appealing there will be sales made no doubt. One just has to be diligent in finding the magic $ amount from part sales and current trending amount things are going for.

I too have somewhere around. 500 transactions on my eBay account but mostly as a buyer since the selling aspect has Ben hard as eBay just isn’t the same place it was 10-12 years ago (that’s good and bad).

Heck though if you can find your way into success on eBay in this day and age you can then you can b successful anywhere!

that and i hear some ebay people scam a lot.

As someone who has sold quite a lot on Ebay, the market has been flooded with everything I have ever tried to sell. A lot of selling has to do with your description, your price and your photo. You have to set yours apart from the rest. I have never had any trouble selling anything that there were plenty available on Ebay. Just as there are plenty of the same product available, there are plenty of buyers all looking for the same exact thing. That’s the beauty of it and again…what do you have to lose anyway? It takes a few minutes to list and then you’re done.

Sales being harder has a lot to do with the economy and people’s buying habits in general will affect Ebay, that’s just the economy. While things are sometimes slower to sell than they were many years ago, they still sell anyway.

In my experience, I would say that is untrue. I have never even heard the rumor about scamming a lot. While I disagree with a few Ebay rules and policies, I consider it one of the safest buying and selling systems available. As a buyer, I have never had a problem with a transaction and not been able to get my money back. Any problem has been very few, and I’ve been an active member since 2001. As a seller, I have found the pool of buyers to be more mature, when making inquiries, and dealing with issues, than you will find here on the buy sell trade.

I’m on the fence about this as a buyer it’s the safest way to buy considering PayPal is great, but as a seller PayPal nearly always for the buyer (there are a few common sense ways to avoid this as a seller ), but if you sell on eBay without tracking or good pictures of the item you shipped you can fall into the it didn’t arrive scam.

Generally the eBay community is homest and just there to get a good deal and not to scam.

And total artist I’ve been active on eBay since 1998 or so in one way or another and there was a time when deals could be had and selling things was much easier (the fees have just kept climbing. Yes I know it takes money to make money but they’ve definitely gotten greedy since the beginning, there was some rolling back of the fees in the last few years but not anything like the long ago.), selling is easy well listing and making your add stand out is easy rather, but when the market is flooded it $3 paracord anything wih free shipping it’s hard to sell the same think for $8-$10 range when the market is saturated with other things of the same kind.

That’s all I was getting at.

Guys… Stay tuned at my news thread and/or bst at 7-8 pm… Big… News…

I’ve seen cheaper paracord stuff, but I’ve seen more expensive paracord stuff too. These guys are right in the middle. Which is just right, in my eyes. The thing is, we don’t know what quality is coming in the mail for $3 paracord product, and would never know unless we bought it. I think Rob recommended a higher price for the bracelet, or perhaps someone else suggested $15. I’ll have to review the thread and see. But, making the cheapest price available does not necessarily make it a good business decision. These guys just want to cover their costs of material, their labor, shipping and have a few bucks profit. That makes $10 to $12 more than reasonable. I think whoever does not want to pay that and get something for $3 should go right ahead. Many of them will lose money because after they get a bracelet that looks like it costs $3, they can come back and buy a better one for $12 instead.

I agree that the Ebay fees are higher than what I think they should be. I think sellers are reacting to that by not listing on Ebay as much. I have also sold on Amazon, and the fees are about the same or worse. So, to get access to their consumer traffic, it is th price we pay. I pass the fee mostly on to the consumer, so not such a big deal, because every seller is thinking the same thing.

I thought about it, and had one scam incident by a buyer. More like an attempt, but one in 12 years is nothing. I don’t just buy, but I sell a lot. I didn’t lose anything in that deal. There are many more mature consumers on there than on the forum. I think less likely a scam there than here.

I’m in suspense…can’t wait to hear.

I think I know what it is ;D
