I’m taking some classes for it right now! I’m thankful that I have a lot of native speakers around me and that all of them are rather supportive (even though my accent sucks haha).

It’s a fun language! I have never left a foreign language classes thinking: “wow, that was a lot of fun!”, so i’m sure I am going the right track with Chinese.

Great to hear that you are enjoying the language =). Good luck on your endeavors in Chinese, I’m learning Japanese now, and my accent is down the drain XD

Thank you! When I get to China, ill be immersed. I’m banking on that to cement my knowledge of chinese up to that point.

Sounds great SlimJoe. When you learn Chinese, is it Mandarin only? I hear that’s the main dialect in China. :-\

Mandarin is the standard dialect and should work fine anywhere, but people at Hong Kong/Guangzhou mainly use Cantonese. I don’t think they would be classes for different dialects, most of them are picked up over time. I am fluent in Mandarin and slightly less so in Cantonese. Where I live, the most used dialects are Hakka, Hokkien and Cantonese depending on the state. Less commonly used dialects are Hainanese and Teowchew.

I’m learning Mandarin.
