Wood is Good

My 2014 Eh is pretty vibey, but it doesn’t bother me. I can clearly see it shaking. My Sullivan less so but still a good bit. I broke a string and smacked the Eh hard enough to make a flat spot once. Same with the Sullivan but not as hard.

My '14 Eh is kinda vibey from time to time. It came with an axle that was missing a significant chunk of threading. After a couple weeks it started coming apart all the time. Switched to a new axle and the problem persists, either becoming very loose or completely coming apart (sometimes after one throw, with no jolts or bangs). Added a thin strip of electrical tape around the threads this morning and the problem is gone, as well as most of the vibe.

It is my daily throw so it gets use a lot. It has the stock axle but I tried with another axle and same issue… you said electrical take Robert?

Can you make a video and post it about it?

Thanks

I recommend teflon (PTFE) tape.

Didn’t have any on hand, that’s what I was hoping to use though. Gonna pick some up at the hardware store tomorrow.

Is that the plumbler’s tape?

Yes

I found a way to stamp pretty much any image into a wooden yoyo…
Basically print the flipped picture on a plastic film (here it is called “mica transparent film”), then press the film on the wood, use your fingers to press the surface evenly, making very sure it doesn’t slide otherwise the image will be ruined. You can wipe the film and reuse them. Very nice result as long as care is taken and the wood surface is smooth. It can only be done with an inkjet printer, laser printer won’t work (there is a way to use laser printer but seemed to be more complicated)
Think about the possibilities…

That is amazing

Almost finished reading the entire Tom Kuhn Appreciation thread over on the old YoYoNation board.  Some cool stuff in there.

While waiting for the new O.U.T. to come out I will be busy relearning with the 2 wood-wood axle, 1950’s, Butterfly’s I just got.

Just thought I’d drop these here for all you wood enthusiasts. I have been asked several times on the voodama/OUT fb page if I would ever consider making some fixies with hand painted art like I do on the voodama dolls; so, here
