Butterflies are good starters, due to their being cheap, easy to find, and decent performers.
There are so Many Awesome Fixed Axle Trows out there.
It really is a great Buyers market.
It depends on what you are after.
I really enjoy the O.U.T. Pocket Love, it is by far my most often used Fixie.
So is fixed axle 3a a thing?
Not Specifically, But you can do 3A on a fixed Axle.
Fixed Axel, just means there is No bearing or Transaxle sleeve in it.
I have been throwing the Prototype Treehugger from OUT.
It is a very Nice well crafted Throw.
It is a little bit wider than Pocket Love and About the Same Diameter.
Which means it has more Volume than a Pocket Love, and is therefore heavier.
Not much but it provides a really solid feel and great spin time.
Wood is still the real deal. Don’t let anyone tell you differently.
New wood, which is very good…

Thought this would be a good place to show off the Driftwood I won in the Radical Seas fixed-axle contest. I’d like to give a big thank you to Radical Seas, it’s a sweet player :).
I haven’t seen much action on my favorite thread. Did anybody get any mentionable fixies for christmas?
I myself, have been quite busy this holiday season as you can see
I have my Just For Fun for about a month now and am very happy with it. It plays well, it is well balanced and it looks great.
Great line. That similar to me and YYF. I don’t want all of them, but a lot of them.
Here’s some newly turned wood for your enjoyment…one piece, no glue holding the sides and axle together.
Bloodwood (Brazil):
Osage Orange (Texas):
Tulipwood (Brazil):

Yoyospin look great. I am planning a future purchase.
Is this a spitfire I see at the end of the line?
Curious as to how the different weight (woods) play… Somewhat looking for a Bloody Pocket Love because the extra weight but is that necessarily a good thing? I enjoy string tricks more than looping… I want to pick up a Pocket Love and maybe a TMBR Turner or Sullivan… Just cannot decide which one to get of the TMBR’s and which wood for the Pocket Love’s yet! lol… HELP!!
Anyone try the TMBR Sullivan or Turner yet?
…My only fixed axle’s I play is my SF era No-Jive and sometimes my Freemont which I think needs shims or a different axle, its WAY responsive!! Need some new fixed axle wood stuff now!!
Still Throwing my no jive… I’m content with it… and im just now learning how we play together. No reason to mess up this budding relationship i don’t got time for another wooden yoyo.
Blood wood is is very heavy. You will get very long spin times but you have to be cautious catching stalls because getting bit in the knuckles by blood wood is not the same as getting bit by maple-
My knuckles know all too well ;D
Blood wood can draw blood. That is such an appropriate name.
Ebony yoyos? Has anyone done it? They use it for guitar necks that’s the only reason I know about it.
Here’s my personal scale of woods I’ve worked with a lot in terms of hardness/weight, 10 being the most heavy (but not necessaryly the most difficult to work with):
