Wood is Good

Pocket Love on the left. JFF on the right. I think the Pocket Love has more…love… because there are more in circulation. Both are great, get both. I have 3 of each.

The Pocket Love is more stable in my opinion, but the JFF will loop better if you like to mix in some loops. I can’t get my Pocket Loves to loop hardly at all, but my JFF handles them fairly well. The Pocket Love also has more weight to it in general due to the bigger size. The type of wood you choose will also have an impact on weight, and the variable nature of wood also can make this unpredictable. For example, my oak JFF and my padauk Pocket Love both weigh about the same where as my blood wood Pocket Love weighs 20grams more than both of those!

These are the latest Tom Kuhn fixed axle butterfly designs…a limited edition of 50 each commissioned by David Hall: The Nordik (left) and Bifrost1 (right). Bifrost2 is the same design as Bifrost1, except the laser image is reversed.

Blood wood is such a labor intensive wood to work, but there’s nothing like it ;D

@Purple Those Bloody Pocket Loves looks amazing with that color of acrylic inlay! Well played!

I have a Paduk Currier and 100 type 10 cotton strings coming in the mail, along with a Purple Heart JFF for Christmas. I’ve finally gotten the hang of fixed axle play, and there is something magical about it.

Sweet! I have a JFF coming in the mail also with the type 10 string. Should be here tomorrow… I can’t wait ;D

The Pocket Love is a little bit bigger diameter.
It also has rounder edges and smooth curves.
The JFF is a more angular design.

The Pocket Love and JFF both play Great.

If anyone is chasing a heavier Pocket Love, Voodama Facebook has a Couple of Bloodwood Pocket Love’s available.
I have one and it really rocks!

How is the Currier? I get mine on Wednesday.

My JFF and strings came in the mail today! I love it so far. I’m getting the hang of doing a trapeze stall to the brother stall ;D

That’s the good stuff! Some days I just go bath and forth and that is the extent of my yoyoing.

alternately you can go back and forth and forth and forth…

Does the value of your money seem to go up and then down? Do you not get satisfaction from playing with your money? Have you had trouble keeping your money from spinning out of control?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you need to invest in the Old Money Yo-Yo…

I swear, I don’t know how you do the things you do with wood. You have an incredible foresight of what will look good when it’s all said and done and the finished product is in hand. You…my friend…are just plain talented.

Don’t quote the post right above yours. ~mrcnja

The Emmett is out now! It looks pretty dope. I know it’s not wood, but it’s fixed axle and there’s no segregation round hurrrr.

I just got my Bloody Pocket Love by OUT in and wow, I’m so impressed with it I don’t even know where to begin. I’m very hard to please when it comes to the fit and finish of yoyo’s…and everything else for that matter. I’ve seen other wood yoyo’s and I was just kind of let down and it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. And they were all just kind of terrible when it came to play. I remember throwing a sleeper and the yoyo slept for about 5 seconds and then started tilting and I remember thinking “how hard do the ppl on the tutorials throw these type of yoyo’s to get them to sleep long enough to do any kind of combo.” Well my bloody pocket love sleeps for like 40 seconds and that’s just throwing pretty hard but not as hard as I can. It feels so solid and substantial and the fit and finish is so freakin’ good that I couldn’t even find one complaint. Not even a small one, and that is almost unheard of when it comes to me. For those of you that want crazy long sleep times and an amazing playing and amazing looking yoyo, look no further than the bloody pocket love by OUT. I know they’re not available often, but when they are, you HAVE to get one. It’s so worth the $45 it’s not even funny. I know that a lot of the fixed axle players like to loop and that this yoyo is a little heavy and might not be great for that but for everything else, it’s the king of kings. I don’t get like this about yoyo’s hardly ever, but this just might be my favorite yoyo even out of all my metals. I can’t express it enough, if you have the chance, get one, you will thank me. The downside with yoyo’s like this is that they’re made by one single person and you never know when that person might not be able to continue to make them so you have to grab them while you still can.
