Wood is Good

…because just looking at empirical measures of density would make too much sense.

I’m sure I’ve posted this stuff before, but since we’re on the subject…

I got a Bloodwood Pocket Love and Padauk Pocket Love for Christmas.
Very Very Nice…

Also Playing My Tree Hugger heaps.
It’s a very nice throw, but now I want a Tree Hugger in Purpleheart wood

Anyone else get a Christmas Fixed Axle?

I got a Padauk Pocket Love and a TMBR Turner for Christmas, loving them both!

There’s a Fixed Axle February video contest happening in 2014. We already have about dozen companies you know and love sponsoring the contest. So, get on over here Redirecting... and like and share and enter!

^^ Thanks for doing this!

Come on and compete with us, we’d love to see what you’ve got.

So…

Have you guys seen that new OUT feed? What are your thoughts on getting some?

You’re welcome

Like that old guy says, come be a part of it.

Prop’d these up and gave them a spin recently. The plane true is that I like this aero-design a lot and will do my best to make it fly. Hope I don’t crash and burn

Great looking throws. The puns were pretty bad though.

Thanks…here are a couple more that flew off my lathe last night. Hope they make a safe landing into someone’s collection:

How long have you been doing this stuff yoyospin? It’s super impressive.

Thanks…been making yo-yos since I quit working full-time, in 1996. My goal is to never make two yo-yos that are exactly alike.

This one may be the coolest fixed axle one-piece wood yo-yo I have ever made. Perfectly balanced, Amboyna Burl wood from south-east Asia. The brass propellers are recessed flush into the wood and spin aggressively while the yo-yo is spinning. Hope you like it…

guessing i have to check facebook on how to get my hands on one of those beauties…

We’ve got prizes out the wazoo. Including stuff from Tom Kuhn, One Drop, G2, King Yo Star, usastrojax, and on and on.

Ok, so I got my first TK today! A No Jive, and I’m loving this thing! So different from bearing throws. Just wish the string could last longer, mine burned out in the first hour. Will probably try making my own cotton string tomorrow. So quick question, do these axles work in the No Jive? And my No Jive wobbles a lot, I take it this is the same for you guys too?

I’m 99% sure no jives take no jive axles only. As far as wobble, try tuning it. Start by pushing out a hex head and turning it one spot at a time, checking for wobble in between. Sometimes it’s a matter of lining up the grain on each half with the other. Sometimes it’s finding a sweet spot. Sometimes you have a wobbly no jive.
