Kamuraiju has my vote.

There are so many wonderful yo-yo’s this year I have to break it down by manufacturer. And even then I can’t really decide.

One Drop releases Thorn, Kamaraiju and the Diorama

The kamuraiju is pretty nice. I like the rims on it. Feels good. One drop makes great a great yoyo.

My super, ultra-rare 'boutique" Avatar yo-yo company (AYC) unobtanium-izm. This yo-yo is so mega-rare that you are not even allowed to think about it how utterly amazing it is. It has a ano-job that Jackson Pollack would envy. The value on the resale market has gone vertical since I snagged it on the dawn of the vernal equinox by deciphering the members-only instagram post encrypted by a WW2 German Enigma machine to get the secret url.
I do not care what others are willing to pay. I will be buried with it.

Hmmm, machined by one drop I would guess

I’ve got money on the Kamuraiju voters changing their minds. The yoyo’s been out for like 2 weeks guys, how much time could you possibly have put in with one?

No, not those guys. Mine was made by some dude who simply called himself “The Eye”. Word has it he forged all his throws from Mithril in the fires of a machine-shop in a place called “Mt Doom” (I think it is in California). He told me that mine was only one of nine (wow!). He made two other models; but those were sold on different websites overseas…

In all seriousness, my nomination for favorite yo-yo of 2022:

Yoyofactory IQ.

Innovative, high-performance, awesome value from Yoyofactory.

I have heard this comparison a couple of times and don’t understand how or why anyone would want a slimline organic yoyo to play like a pure-bred competition bimetal.

Simple, for people like me who love performance yoyos but want them to be pocket sized so I can bring them anywhere. The rounded rims are just the icing on the cake which makes them more comfortable on the catch.

That’s to say, it’s not for people who like slimline organic yoyos like the Panorama or the Diorama. It’s for people who want a performance yoyo that is a 3 in 1 package of comfort, pocketability and performance.

Also, I completely forgot about updating that post, and I’m glad to say that the Dressel Designs Kanto does really live up to the “slimline Draupnir” expectation and hence is my favourite yoyo of 2022.

I considered getting a Kanto, but the one colorway I was interested in sold out before I could be persuaded. I’ll have to keep an eye out for one on a BST somewhere.

It feels specifically like a Draupnir? Or it has characteristics that it shares more with competition bimetals and less with slimline organic yoyos?

Physics just don’t seem to be in the equation when comparing this to a Draupnir.
