Calling all collectors, veterans, enthusiasts new and old!
I’d like to have a consensus: what yoyo do you feel is “Best in Brand” for a company? What is the one yoyo they really knocked it out of the park with? What yoyo has left the biggest impact on how you see a brand? If you could only have one yoyo per brand, what would it be?
This is for all the brands out there, from giants like Duncan, YoyoFactory and OneDrop, to contemporary contenders like C3, YoyoFriends and MK1, to classics like Yoyojam, Tom Kuhn, and Yomega, and everything in between! This can even include small startups and 3D printers, of which there is no small number on this forum!
I’m inviting the whole community, old and young, big and small, manufacturers and consumers alike, what is your Best in Brand???
I’m sure many will give the typical “it all depends, there is no best” but whats the fun in that. I’ll go ahead and give you my 2 cents since I’ve tried many.
For professional playability my favorite brands (with favorite model in parentheses) are:
Motion (Perpetual)
G2 (Triton)
For most fun to play and best hand-feel:
CLYW (Chief, Wooly Marmot)
SoSerious (El Serio, Chronos)
OneDrop (Summit)
For best Anodization there is no better than Ray from Monkeyfinger Design. He makes the prettiest yoyos in the business. A true artist. My favorite mfd model is the Aotus.
Iconic seems pretty different than best like best is super subjective and iconic seems more like it should attempt objectivity.
Hmmm best for brand hmmm…obviously super subjective bc best is basically what’s your favorite so uh here’s some—
UNPRLD—TiSStortion
Mowl—Ti Infiltrate
TP—Hades ( I like Mosu a ton also)
Duncan—Veylaa
ETC—Capriccio
Hmmm these were the only ones that jumped right to mind.
Idk lots of this depends on how I feel like playing and my opinion could change minute by minute so…

I think iconic is what is most recognizable or popular, whereas I see best as having less to do with popularity/notariety and more to do with performance, play feel, ano, etc.
I honestly wonder what some manufacturers would say… @MarkD, @da5id, @Glenacius_K, what do you believe as a manufacturer is your Best in Brand? This can be influenced not only by the yo-yo’s success, play and aesthetic but also the process of designing it. Thoughts?
Yeah exactly and performance is relative like what person X thinks the best performance characteristics are, is probably different than what person Y thinks is best.
I was going to do mine as a pif a while back but the bearing was not great in the prototype. I might be willing to start a lemon pif with my prod one and hype it up in the US now that folks at club have had their fill. I’ll miss it from rotation though lol.
Remind me next week when I’m back home and I’ll see about getting that going
