Unpopular Yoyo Opinions

How can a trick be lame to perform?

I still do variations of this 3d double or nothing and it’s pretty satisfying to hit and mix into combos.

3D tricks look like good unresponsive string tension correction tricks. These should be and remain popular.

Sure, I suppose, but it’s rather contrived.

3D often have visible consequences regarding the stability of a given throw. Also, the 3D gimmick just feels bad to me when I try it. Something about it feels false.

Guess we’ll agree to disagree here, it is the unpopular opinions thread after all. :man_shrugging:

It’s not real, it’s just a dream!

I got my PLSTC this week and I am absolutely BAFFLED at people’s praise of this thing. I play a lot of plastic for someone with my size collection, in fact even though my main throw is an Anglam and an overdrive, probably 30-40% of the time I am throwing a plastic.

I find it much inferior to the Premiere, to the Diffusion, the Big Dipper. Honestly, I don’t think it’s as good as the Wedge or First Base.

It’s feels light and it is relatively fast, I’ll give you that. But it lacks power, it’s relatively unstable and it doesn’t even feel particularly good.

People I respect have said good things about it, I feel like I got a different YoYo or something because if I could describe this throw in one word it would be “unimpressive”.

I thought it was okay. Really smooth for a plastic, but that’s about all it had over other plastics I’ve tried.

Idk, I really like my PLSTC. I have more limited experience with modern plastics (I only have a sk8er, Skyva, and a Replay Pro), but it honestly surprised me. It is smooth and spins long enough for my combos, while not feeling dead like the Skyva. I like it, but not as much as pretty much any metal. Maybe if I tried more plastic yos I would find flaws in it, but otherwise it is my best unresponsive plastic.

I felt the same way about the Wedge, though for me the Wedge also suffers from Much Too Wide Syndrome, and since the PLSTC looks like a polycarb Cadence inflated to Wedge proportions, I knew it would be a hard pass for me. Which is a shame because I really love the frosted finish and available colors.

The standard between divisions part of a yo-yo contest where a ton of people mill around the stage yoyoing/practicing looks super sloppy and unprofessional.

Is there a large practice space back stage?

Maybe they’re just excited to be able to buy a SF, any SF, that stays in stock for more than a few hours?

Nope, but there should be

My PLSTC is super stable, spins a really long time, and has one the smoothest surfaces of any of my plastics. Out grinds metals I own. I really like how they look too. Maybe it just fits my style well. :man_shrugging:

Thank you for that eloquent response.

I guess my response is confusion because it is without question the least stable and the least powerful plastic I own so I’m just baffled as to how you can describe it in those terms.

I mean, have you played a Diffusion or Big Dipper to compare it to?

I think even attributes that seem objective many times become subject in yoyoing.

The other day I saw two peoole on here giving exact opposite attributes to the same yoyo. One guy called it crazy stable, the next called it very unstable.

That seems to be why so many people have different favorites and different ideas of what’s good.
