Under rated yoyos

Yeah standard kind of died. Cool design that never really caught on. The diesis was really popular from what I saw, but was kind of overshadowed by hype for the DK, but every diesis drop I saw sold out really fast. Parser is really good for the price but I agree isnt talked about much.

The more im typing this out the more i realize they are a little underrated:joy::joy: they seemed rly popular to me though.

I see what you mean.

I suppose if you already have a draupnir, you probably won’t need an Edolass. However for those who are looking for a Draupnir, but couldnt find one (since it’s always out of stock), they could get an Edolass

The Edolass also has the virtue of being more than $100 cheaper.

Fun question: would most of the yo-yos people mention in this thread be hyped up more if SF made them?

Probably yes.

You gotta include art too haha

all these yoyos had low expectations when the individual was purchasing it

I’ll second the exit8. It just feels really good to play it.

The C3 astraea is another, it’s pretty unique, like a competition yoyo loved an organic very much and the astraea was the result, or something. I feel like it had some influence on the design of the wanker, they share some traits.

Finally I’ll say Reticulated Yoyo’s is the most under appreciated yoyo maker out there that I’m aware of. I own every throw he’s made except the most recent death adder, but I have the prototype. Every single one of them is really good. I’m always surprised that he isn’t out of stock on everything.

I really need to try the Astraea. With Duncan and other companies putting out quality bimetals at $100 or less these days, though, the $115 asking price of the Astraea is somewhat harder to swallow. Also that engraving really doesn’t jive with me aesthetically.

Definitely agree with you on Retic YoYos! Been meaning to snag an Atra, and planning to snag a brass Death Adder V2 on Fri!

hows the difference of edolass and od draup in play in your personal opinion? especially for comp haha

It currently seems that everything is a bit under rated. A new yoyo comes out which gets a bit of hype, then everyone is excited for the next new thing. There are lots of new things and it is a bit exhausting.

Yeah, same here. The shape is definitely interesting though, I agree.

The market is completely oversaturated right now. Too many people want to make yo-yos without considering whether or not the limited number of yoyoers can support another company’s existence.

They’ll find out soon enough when they see very little of their inventory being purchased by yoyoers. They’ll fold up shop and disappear like many before them. In this sense the yoyo marketplace is sort of self-cleaning.

Sometimes thats all people want to do now though is just get a couple designs out there and call it quits. Im sure its a common dream among yoyoers to make their own yoyo.

I’d venture that those who just want to make one or two yoyos, mostly for themselves, fall into the vanity project category, and aren’t really contributing to market over-saturation since they don’t really intend/expect to make any sizable or on-going impact on people’s wallets. Most of them will come and go without much fanfare, and most yoyoers probably won’t feel them adding noticeably to the weight of new yoyo releases. I know I don’t.

I started out this way but changed my mind, which is why I did a 2nd release, sponsored worlds, running Yoyo workshops, etc. Yoyoing has plenty of room to grow and support new companies if they can also manage to create new yoyoers at the same time.

Many won’t be successful, or won’t last, and that might even be me. I can’t see very far into the future. But today, my work has been very fulfilling and validating because of the support of my friends and family.
