Throwers who play/ practice while seated: what can I do to make this feel less awkward

I am on my feet at work all day every day on concrete, so when I get home I do enjoy relaxing off my feet. I just can’t put the throw down when I’m home tho, so I find my self spending even more hours on my feet. When I sit on my couch or in a dining room chair it’s hella awkward to throw and do side style. But… I love side style. Should I just improve my front style? Cut my string shorter? I do utilize my 888’s and do pull starts, but I don’t always wanna throw them.

Idk, what’s up? How do you play and be lazy at the same time, gang?

Maybe you could lift the chair up a couple feet on a pedestal/table, let legs dangle, and lean forward to throw a breakaway that clears the chair/base… might need a step stool to get in the chair though…

I actually have a taller seat in my basement, I guess it’s like barstool height. Problem is that the base is stepped out to make it stable, and I have hit those legs.

Idk, I guess I should just get more comfortable house shoes lol

could pad the legs with foam maybe… seems like work.

Actually, that is not a bad idea. I have some leftover pipe insulation I could use.

You could try throwing on an Anti-Fatigue mat like they have in kitchens.

I can highly recommend Birkenstocks or Glerups as great, if a little expensive, house shoes.

Someone once said to me “ never cheap out on what separates you from the earth” and it has proven to be good advice for shoes, tires, mattresses etc so far lol

You can swap to responsive and focus on Shoot the Moon and Loops…

Front style is a lot easier while seated. Also using a shortened string helps. If you’re feeling frisky, you could lay back and do some zontals.

I recommend Hoka Bondis (oil res for work) and Osiris D3 2001 to make sure you get enough room for the tosies and find the right arch support insoles like Powerstep Pinnacles, I walk on clouds every day between work and home. If you were trying to improve that aspect

I dont play seated often, but i have bad knees so its literally a pain sometimes lol.

I randomly may throw a bit from the edge of my bed or something, so probably juat taller seating woukd work.

As someone who fell and hurt my knee this week this topic interests me. I’ve spent the past few days in a chair when I don’t have to stand and haven’t really touched the YoYo I habitually put in my pocket.

I imagine playing an undersized yoyo would help in this endeavor along with a shorter string.

Time for my 66% 888 to shine!

Sorry to hear about your knee, Captn. Hope it heals up soon!!

Sometimes I throw responsive while sitting. I was actually just playing with the little pocket throws I 3d printed while in a desk chair. I’ve done the same with my duccling, pocket rocket, and little confusion as well before.

And sometimes when i need to actually lay down I’ll get out some balisong trainers. It’s not a yoyo, but it’s a fun skill toy you can use while not standing up.

Use a mighty flea and some 3 inch string, and use toothpicks instead of your fingers

Mini panzer. Get that smallest yoyo going at the desk

I really want one of those in theory but the name “ss panzer” just isn’t my vibes.

It’s virtually unplayable to be honest. Unless you have some wild skills it’s just so small

I spent $55 on some insoles, brand is called Superfeet green, and put them in a $35 pair of Hey Dudes.

I could stand forever. It’s been a real game changer. The insoles are the important part, I just find the Hey Dudes easy to use as house shoes.

Took about a week for the insoles to mold to my feet, but once they did, it is unreal.
