The BST rules require a user to be trust level 1 (a new user is level 0).
Trust Level 1 โ Basic
At Discourse, we believe reading is the most fundamental and healthy action in any community. If a new user is willing to spend a little time reading, they will quickly be promoted to the first trust level.
So essentially 10 minutes of light forum browsing gets you BST privileges? Lolโฆ Not even close to good enough IMO, especially with the major uptick in scammers recently.
A 5 post minimum and week old account age would be a great place to start IMO - VERY low barrier for entry to anyone with good intentions but enough to deter the โinsta-join-and-postersโ weโve been seeing so much of.
Yes, it seems so. I didnโt make the rule, just pointing it out. I know previous forums Iโve been on had stricter requirements in place similar to what you note.
Some things, sometimes can just be amazing coincidences.
For example, when I joined this forum in November 2009, someone else joined the same day. I immediately found that quite interesting.
Then later that day, I went to see a movie. On my way to the movie theater I had made it a point to not tell anybody where I was going. I didnโt even think in my mind where I was going in case there was a mind reader in close proximity to me.
And yet, when I got to the front of the movie theater, other people had showed up at the same time on the same day to see the same movie.
Fact, his stranger than friction.
I bought a giant bucket of butter, popcorn through my PayPal account. I used the friends and family option because the people at the concession stand seemed pretty friendly.
Iโd make this story longer, but my ring camera on live feed just identified an alien hovercraft over my driveway trying to use a tractor beam to steal my custom Harley motorcycle. Fortunately, they built their spaceship using parts from HarborFreight and the tractor beam is too Wimpy to lift my bike more than 3 feet off the ground. So anyway, I gotta go.
By the way, Willโฆ donโt forget to give me some outstandingly positive feedback for those 36 titanium yo-yos I FedExโt to you overnight for $1.50.
Iโm writing up a positive feedback statement for you too. You are definitely too generous. Selling me 20,000 zip line strings for $11 is actually a better deal than I expected. Thanks Homie.
PSโฆ I have found that foulness afoot is easily remedied by simply washing your foot(actually just do both since they are so close to each other) with a mild soap and pat dry. And you can defeat the foulness of dafoot.
Thatโs really a @AndreBoulay call and honestly some if that is platform limits based on discourse. @jhb8426 just helps enforce whatever Andre decides the forum should be in the end.
I think something like this would be a good idea. It needs some more thought concerning particulars, but I think itโd be a move in the right direction.
