When we talk about yoyo prices, I’ve never heard of anyone factoring shipping unless they’re talking about a whole order. I’ve never heard someone say, “The Chik is actually $103” or “The Wrath is $140”. Let’s not start now.
Based on what Adam said, I would say to anyone who asked, “The Rally will be $40-45”.
It’s being sold from YYE and other stores now. Whatever you pay for shipping on a Rally will be the same that you will pay for shipping on the Yeti.
Reiterating: the fact is, nobody talks about shipping as the cost of the yoyo. I’m not interested in seeing that becoming a trend. Let’s all continue doing what sensible consumers do and say, “It’s $X plus shipping”.
without having to read all the pages of this thread, can someone give me a basic synopsis of the yeti? and how its different then the rally?
i own a rally and dont know that i want to step up and purchase the yeti if i already own the rally. is the appeal to buy the Yeti for those that own the rally because of brand loyalty or will there features that are different on the yeti that isnt on the rally? or is there something else i am missing?
Yeah, you should probably read the thread. It’s not too much reading, and I feel you would get a better understanding that way. The Yeti isn’t a “step up” from the Rally. The only similarity that they share is they are both made of plastic. Shape, play, weight, response, bearing, hub design, and even the type of plastic are all different.
People will by both because they want to, and the play is different. Just because they are plastic, and in the same price range doesn’t mean they’re the same thing… For example, let’s compare the Chief and the Puffin. Similar price, but radically different everything. Same situation with the Rally/Yeti.
If you have a Rally, I would either wait a while, maybe till the next sale to get a Yeti, or maybe just save up for a nicer metal.
Good point; it almost feels like 90% of the yoyos sold online from smaller manufacturers like OneDrop are sold through YYE, but yeah evidently they’re ~40% of the market.
I could be completely wrong, but I remember posting somewhere when the official release date was announced asking what happened to the original plan to sell all of the first run Yeti’s direct. People replied telling me that I was wrong in my thinking that it had been written that the release would be early July (which I was not wrong, it’s on this forum somewhere). Anyway, CLYW’s Facebook page says that the Yeti will be sold at Worlds from a certain booth, then release on YoyoExpert the same night at midnight. I expect that many will still be sold from the place in Canada where shipping to the U.S. is $15.00, but there will also be Yeti’s sold on YYE. So I guess it all depends on when and where you plan to buy your Yeti. If you’re at Worlds then you won’t pay any shipping, so it’ll be $45.00. If you buy it here before they sell out then you’ll pay $48.00-$51.00. Some people will have to pay $60.00, but I’m sure that they will still sell.
Yes I have very high expectations for this yoyo. I didn’t think I wold like the Rally as much as the Yeti because it is so darn smooth. And as Chris said it will have a very eensy teensy amount of vibe, and I think thatit gives it personality. I am working at my grandpa’s place to hopefully earn enough money to buy the Yeti. I hope I will get enough.

I was talking to one of the One Drop players this past weekend who has played both and that is pretty much the exact thing he said. He had nothing but good things to say about the Yeti. I can’t wait to give one a shot.
