The Official - CLYW News

Guys, guys.

El Jefe.

This one wins.

Had no idea ā€¦ just felt it matched our branding so well.

Canā€™t wait for the Yeti! Iā€™m going to have to save up for the Summit before I get it though XD

Chris why YYF Spacers just whyā€¦

That is the only thing Iā€™m skeptical about with the Yetiā€¦ Iā€™ve never had a YYF spacer system that didnā€™t give me some sort of grief.

I donā€™t really see the problem with YYF spacers, but then again, Iā€™m one of the few people who know how to manage them.

My Protostar has itā€™s spacers pretty much glued to the bearing, it was so tight that I gave up on trying to pry them apart with pins and needles and just assembled it back as it was.

Excuse me? Theyā€™re spacers, donā€™t get all high and mighty on us, saying you know better than other people. Theyā€™re only there to give the bearing something to spin around. And YYF makes 'em too darn tight.

That pin video they posted a while back is bull, Iā€™ve gotta wiggle a knife between those spacers and the bearing to get it off when theyā€™re stuck.

I had one so bad on my counter attack I had to crunch the spacer with a vice to get it off. No joke.

I have a nice paint scraper for my spacers. Itā€™s thicker in the middle then the corner area, so I pop it on then roll it on out to freedom.

The YYF spacers were available and they work great for our application.

Unfortunately I invested too much into this project (20K+) to try to find a company to make them locally. It would have costed me a fortune to compete with local oil field machine shops.

The YYF spacers we did our testing with worked great, they had a slip bearing fit and I was very happy. Unfortunately the 1000s I received have a tight bearing fit. Which most of you guys are complaining about on here.

The first release will have the tight spacers, but Iā€™ll make sure they all have an extra set of spacers just in case.

Iā€™m working towards getting ones that have a lighter slip fit ā€¦

I took a big chance here with making a plastic. Basically if this project fails, Iā€™m going back to work and CLYW will just be a fun hobby thing for me. Sad, but true.

Just trying my best.

Chris

We shall buy all of them Yetis, donā€™t worry!

Iā€™m sure it wonā€™t fail Chris you have one of the most loved companies in the world! I plan on buying 2  ANy chance of different colored stickers on the release?

Thanks

We wonā€™t have different coloured stickers until this project gets rolling further along. Minimum order quantity (MOQ) is super high and spendy, since weā€™re using fancy 3M control panel type stickers.

Chris

Wellā€¦ that makes me want to buy the first run and not buy it at the same timeā€¦

I think Iā€™m gonna leave it to the others to pick up the tight spacers. Thanks for the honest answer, Chris.

The rolling method is definitely the way to go. Iā€™ve had good experience just using a table knife also since they get gradually thicker.

Iā€™m going to have to buy my Summit first XD But Iā€™m still supporting CLYW so I donā€™t feel bad about waiting a bit to buy the Yeti (just an extra month or two).

How to remove YYF spacers video
YYF spacers were always my favorite when I was doing mods; this is how I removed bearings from them:

I know Iā€™m gonna be buying 2 Yeti. The spacers arenā€™t my favorite, but that is such a small issue itā€™s not something that is going to prevent me from buying the Yeti.
